A 43 year old British expat named by police as Phil Powe (but more likely Phil Powell) has been killed instantly when his Airblade was involved in an accident. It happened in Sihanoukville. From the pics it looks like he wasn't wearing a helmet. RIP.

SHV: British expat Phil Powell killed in Moto accident
Chirst i never get why ppl think they look so cool without helmet. Allso it seemd to be raining. Not fun riding with the rain hiting your eyes like nails.
When i got my moto she first gave me one of those typical helmets you get that are fucking useless. Asked for a real helmet and got a good one. The one before cracked by when someone accidently tiped my moto over. So how its gonna hold when i fly head on in 60km/h?
Well, he payed the price of hes own stupidity it seems. Too bad but hes choise. The moto dont look that damaged so i just assume he would be alive if he had one.

I will never understand that. Currently in Kampot and I have not seen a single foreigner wearing a helmet today. Oh, and up at the Bokor Resort we saw two foreigners crash their motorbike all on their own.... They did wear helmets but obviously did not know how to ride a bike.scobienz wrote:From the pics it looks like he wasn't wearing a helmet. RIP.

As the headline:he drove straight into a brick wall and died instantly. 3.30am, driving home drunk, no helmet, in the rain, witnesses say he was driving extremely fast and drove straight into the wall.

No helmet; wearing sandals, shorts; speeding in the rain at 3 in the morning and drunk. Sorry for the family and relatives who have to see this.
Hanno, same thing in Pattaya. Most foreign riders do not wear helmets and, if they do, it's to get through police checks, then they promptly sit the plastic pail in the basket.

I am convinced those airblades are indestructible. I have crashed and smashed mine more times than I can actually remember over the years and it has always ran after being scraped of the tarmac with me. I once had three crashes in the same month - ask Petrol Head he was lecturing me on getting a large German car because of it.Albro wrote: ... If you look at the pictures, he crashed straight into a very large concrete call. He ends up dead, and the bike looks like it has no scratches on it. How does that happen?Playboy wrote:I am convinced those airblades are indestructible. Yep...I've been in Kampot for over 2 years, and the scariest thing I encounter on the highways are barang women out on maybe their first ride and about 75-25 are non helmet wearers. I've seen them crash into restaurants, each other, and innocent Khmer. Cambodia should really tighten up the requirements for a barang to ride any thing here.Hanno wrote:I will never understand that. Probably the front wheel absorbed alot of it. But it does look damaged in the front. Including a pushed back front wheel. And allso, maby he didnt go so fast. Dont have to go fast at all to die from something like that.scobienz wrote:If you look at the pictures, he crashed straight into a very large concrete call. Looks like he got to the end of a straightaway and was too drunk to react to the RHS elbow bend at the end and just kept going ?
Rated R for Ricecakes
RIP.
The picture of his licence shows he had a full UK bike licence.
