Read to me the bar was merely reprimanded and told not to do it again. You are usually at a disadvantage owning most establishments in Asia. I also honestly think Cambodians are tolerant people in regard to foreigners' behaviour and conducts, whether you agree with their thoughts or not.

Did the wife of the iron man or the queen not approve? I find it hard to believe that there needs to be a legally passed law for the police to enforce (or not enforce) anything.
Don't worry, be happy.
They make you sign a promise when that happens. The next time it happens, or they decide it did, it gets ugly.phat kunthea wrote:Read to me the bar was merely reprimanded and told not to do it again.
I find it more likely that somebody wants the spot than that someone on 136 complained about sexy dancing. Butterfly has been raided how many times? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Butterfly, Candy and Best 136 Corner bar (or whatever its name is) being sold together? What a coincidence that 2/3 are subject to harassment from the authorities in such a short time frame.
Bless

Yeah but...Felgerkarb wrote:KTVs full of girls, beer gardens with 100 girls dancing on stage, traditional. Barang bar...not....but...it is the whole sexy dancing thing popping up again. Sit bored at a bar then go with customer, no problem. Dance on the bar then go with customer, traditions broken.
Things are just fine the way they are. Don't want the place turning into Pattaya do we!?

Haven't they always been this way about 'sexy dancing'? I seem to remember way back when a place next to the original Martini's that had 'sexy dancing' (basically fully nude girls gyrating on stage and hanging with customers.) The place was Khmer (mil) owned. There were brothels across the street with 15 year olds sitting out front on plastic chairs. Martini's going full bore next door. No problem. Yet, the cops kept shutting down the sexy dancing place. The brothels with young girls and bars full of prostitutes were no problem, but sexy dancing was not allowed.

LTO, you are delightfully paradoxical:

Notice I said 'a little.' I never joined GGC either (or whatever the acronym was.) But I was always a fan of Martini's.eddie blake wrote:LTO, you are delightfully paradoxical:LTO wrote:440 was a little too mongerishLTO wrote:I remember way back when a place next to the original Martini's that had fully nude girls gyrating on stage and hanging with customers.
I get the irony, but what about those Kiki Lou places? Can't get much sexier than that. Also Pontoon - a lot of prostitutes trying to dance sexy.LTO wrote:Haven't they always been this way about 'sexy dancing'? Is it no sexy dancing in sex bars and not clubs? How exactly does it work?

You just gotta be discreet when doing this kind of thing, and stripping is still a taboo in Cambodia as ironic as it may be.

Never been to a 'Kiki Lou' place. Pontoon is just another club (though more obnoxious than most.) I think what they don't want is Thailand. Brothels and prostitutes are fine, traditional even, but they don't want Thai style go-go bars. Anything that resembles that gets shut down.

That's a good thing. If you had you'd never be able to look at logos or a few other 440 degenerates the same way again. Frothing libertines, the lot of them.LTO wrote: I never joined GGC either
....and Cathouse, and Shanghai, and Walkabout,... et alia. Take ownership of it man, you and Mèo Đen are 440's upper-crust, dignified, elder statesmen of sexualized depravity in PP.LTO wrote:But I was always a fan of Martini's.
Not for nothing though but recently I've noticed you late-night at GSM far more times than I am comfortable with... that is, for a man of your eminence, stature, and all around urbane, genteel and cultivated affect.
