John Girvan, owner of JJ's, a breakfast place and maker or excellent sausages, bacon and pies, passed away this morning. A long term SHV resident he formerly had a guesthouse with his now ex wife on Eckereach street in the centre of town.
Apparently he had been sick for 4 to 5 days, but refused to go to hospital. His staff were worried. Eventually his new neighbour JC helped get him to hospital and apparently he passed away within a half hour.
A nice and genuine guy, well liked by all.
RIP John.
JJ's- John Girvan has passed away in SHV
Oh that's a shame. Used to visit his Ekereach place for breakfast most mornings and popped over to his new place near Don Bosco College a few times.
RIP
I guess Jackie will be coming over to sort stuff out. That'll be another expat business gone for good.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
Gent of a man with a hundred stories from his racing days. In my SHV days he not only did a great breakfast but would also get me items on his Makro Thailand excursions
RIP John

Apparently it is business as usual for JJ's from now on.
Jim has the phone and is taking the orders and the staff are working through.

Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
Good evening
Thanks for those kind words.
I am John's son, Alan.
This has taken me by surprise, and am really happy to hear that JJ's is still open for business as usual. Please take care of the staff as John told me that they are a fantastic bunch.
I have little more to say at the moment, but if any of you would like to send me a private message then please feel free.
Hopefully I will see some of you in person very soon.

John was a well known , and well liked member of the Sihanoukville expat community .
Always polite and courteous , a pleasure to sit down and talk to him , or to have breakfast with .
His passing has shocked me , as it has many , many expats , and his loyal staff .
We have lost a true gentleman .
