The Counter Counterfeit Committee on Tuesday raided a meat storage facility in Phnom Penh’s Toul Kork district, confiscating more than eight tonnes of chicken products.
Officers removed poor quality chicken meat, giblets and meatballs from the warehouse in Boeng Salang commune.
Touch Yuthea, deputy secretary of the Interior Ministry’s Counter Counterfeit Committee, said the chicken products could have harmed consumer health.
“We have temporarily closed the location and are waiting for the owner named Seyha to come and resolve the issue,” Mr Yuthea said.
“We will continue to investigate where there are other illegal businesses posing health risks to people. It is a serious issue for the nation.”
