It's the carbon fiber version, they go for over $2 mill (source: They pop up for sale on James Edition every now and then). The vast majority of lambos and ferraris here (including most of the ones in the photos) are older models that go for less than $200k (and the GTR's for less than $100k). You are right that my statement was an exaggeration if you include the Rolls, but the point stands; There is only one person here who'd spend millions of dollars on a Mclaren, and I was right that it's his.Lucky Lucan wrote:Where can anyone buy all those Rolls Royces, Lamborghinis, Porsches and Ferraris for $1.15 million?Bubble T wrote:I think you have misunderstood. True that but for the lucky Lucan type, the prices you stated are prior import taxes and I suspect that contrary to the common belief not all owners, especially for the lower end ones like GTR, have their ways around that extra cost.Bubble T wrote:It's the carbon fiber version, they go for over $2 mill (source: They pop up for sale on James Edition every now and then). Back to the probable P1 owner, he certainly isn’t brand picky as I believe I saw him drive home in a LaFerrari, which if I wasn’t mistaken would still be his collection crown jewel. He is also rumored to own a 918 Porcher which might have become his new #2 now that the P1 has been totaled.
If I had such a collection I would be so frustrated with the lack of well suited roads and real road users that I would certainly spend a few millions into building a race track where I would also store the bulk of my collection in a modern A/C warehouse.
I don’t need to day dream about it tho as I am very satisfied with a more reasonable A/C parking space project for my 400hp turbo ricer along with the Bokor road proximity and recent ticket waiver.
for stronger cravings and until a real track materialize I also intend to spend more time on the Pattaya Bira International race track.

Most likely that was a demo model then if it had Jaguar on the side, or perhaps a loaner to someone that was getting work done on their own car. There’s also a demo/loaner red Jag SUV around that has writing on the side, with the phone number of the showroom beneath.epidemiks wrote:I saw a convertible Jag awkwardly trying to parallel park at a Browns yesterday. Rolls Royce and Bentley are imported by HGB Group, Star Auto imports Porsche, Royal Group does BMW, and RMA has Jaguar Land Rover.
Interestingly enough, there is no official Lexus dealer in Phnom Penh.

I've heard that new Rollers are between $600,000 and $900,000.Miguelito wrote:Rolls Royce and Bentley are imported by HGB Group.

Yes, there are lots of people here with cars worth $200k-400k, but there are very few with cars that individually cost upwards of $3 mill.Lucky Lucan wrote: Nah. There are way more luxury/supercars around than most people realize, and quite a few people who have yards full of them. This thread on the much missed Koonkhmer might give you an idea:
The person in question is known not only for his love of hypercars, but for Mclarens specifically. He had one parked in his living room at one point, and it would be shocking if this one belonged to anyone else.
Edit: Can confirm it was his.

I recall a family member buying that car just after Australia gave the government 50 million for a few reffos. Hardly coincidence one would think?

Considering the man in question isn't in the government, yes, I believe it's a coincidence.crazyjohn wrote:I recall a family member buying that car just after Australia gave the government 50 million for a few reffos. Hardly coincidence one would think?

A Chinese businessman totaled one test driving it in NZ couple months ago. He wasn't the only one.

RA's McLaren was an F1, not a P1. Can not fathom why it would fetch 8m quid; crashed 2x and when the P1 GTR sells for only 1m. Incidentally, you can only buy one of the 34 made GTRs if you already own the 'standard' P1.
