Phnom Penh: A fire incident happened on the 16th floor of the LUMIERE Condominium, causing a great deal of shock. The staff and the residents of the building started running down the hallways.
4 firetrucks also came down to intervene. The incident happened at 2 pm on December 26, 2017, on the 16th floor of the LUMIERE Condominium, Street 228, next to Street 55 in Chaktomuk Sangkat, Daun Penh district.
According to local authorities, before the incident, staff and residents of LUMIERE condominium units heard the fire alarm, and they became scared, and began to run outside. There was some panic and confusion over the source of the fire.
Black smoke was seen coming from the elevator box on floor 16. Staff managed to contain the fire using the condo extinguishers and the fire brigade and police returned to base after checking there was no threat to public safety.

Small Fire Causes Panic in PP Condo
Bringing the news. You stay classy, nas, Cambodia.
It’s only a matter of time before something big happens in one of these condos or office blocks; the fire services here are totally ill equipped/trained for such constructions.

Ahh, I was wondering if something had happened. A friend was driving by around that time yesterday, and said there was a ton of commotion there with lots of firefighters and police looking up. She wondered if someone was threatening jumping, but couldn't see anything up there.
[*]That condo looks good and new but if building norms in China are anything go by, shoddy wiring and plumbing will ruin it faster than a bunch of drunk Brits can mess an Australian beach. I wouldn't move there without a death wish and solid fire insurance.

Having seen 7 members in a family were burned alive 3 were children a few years ago about 3 blocks from where I live because there were no back door, I always make a point the bars on the window can be broken whenever I move into a new place in the event of fire.
Nice view from the sky bar there.
Doesn't appear to have any fire suppression system whatsoever in the construction pics and video.

Not many of these buildings do. Look where the U.S. embassy puts its staff and those building will have it, but I know they’re very limited in choices because of that.epidemiks wrote:Nice view from the sky bar there.

I actually didn’t realize this was a condo building, and not just a hotel.

Trump is a genius!
Would those firefighters even be able to reach the top floor with hoses? I doubt it.
Anybody know the max height?
Then Mr absent SUV will be looking the way as he takes his morning snooze, blocking access to the non-functioning/ non-existent hydrant...

Do those buildings have smoke alarms or fire hose reels? The Fire Brigade would have no effect whatsoever on level 16. Even in the West fires in high rises can only be controlled by sprinklers and the spread of the fire restricted by fire walls and fire doors. I doubt that Cambodian buildings have any sort of fire rating at all.
Of course in Australia hundreds of buildings have combustible cladding so our strict fire regulations are meaningless nowadays.

We just need one fire (hopefully, no casualties) like the London tower fire, and retro-fitted sprinkler systems are in!
Fire brigade needs to invest in giant, inflatable jump cushions, haha!
Maybe China will donate them and put a huge Chinese flag on them.
I think they're all made there anyways!
