Battambang: February 26, a famous tycoon from Samlot district drove into a house. The driver, despite his wealth refused to come to a settlement, but forced the affected people up to sue in the courts. Authorities have been accused of seemingly trying to conceal the scandal.
A source from the scene said that a black 570 car, state license plate 2-4455 hit a grocery store shack at 9:45 pm on Feb. 24 in Latinh Sung Commune, Samlaut District. The source said that the owner of the affected house was Rin Sopheak, and the driver was named as Oknha Pok Theng, a market boss and owner of a huge warehouse near the "400" Samlaut.
Surprising citizens gathered to see the car hit the house, confirming that the tycoon was likely driving from his warehouse back to Battambang, but when it came tothe intersection point, was going too fast, did not turn and smashed into the house. It is unknown whether the tycoon was drunk or not. After the incident, he was tried to remove the vehicle number immediately and fled. Luckily the owner of the house and her small children escaped injury.
Rin Sopheak, told the kohsantepheap's oreporters that on Feb. 26, when it happened, she and her baby were sleeping in the house. The car crashed through the front door and into the house, but luckily it did not get to the room where they were in. She said that she was trapped in the house because the car was blocking the doorway, but the neighbors helped to get them out.
Ms. Sopheak said that after the incident, the cops came and took car to the Samlot Inspector. She also asked to meet the driver to discuss compensation, but the Oknha did not agree to a meeting.
