The Royal Government of Cambodia has decided that people who buy goods at commercial centers and supermarkets in Cambodia a will have to pay additional fees for carrier bags from April 1, 2018. A plastic bag will cost 400 riels.
Heng Nareth, director-general of the Ministry of Environmental Protection's General Department of Environmental Protection, confirmed that the requirement for larger stores to charge additional customers was not to earn money, but to alert and educate people about environmental concerns through reduction in using plastic bags.
To reduce the use of plastic bags, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Hun Sen signed a sub-decree dated 10 October 2017 on management of plastic bags. The sub-decree was signed by three ministers, Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Tourism Thong Khon and Environment Minister Say Sam Al.
The sub-decree identifies measures to reduce the import, manufacture, distribution and use of plastic bags to ensure public health, environmental protection and aesthetics of the kingdom."

Okay, that's it - no more Mr. nice guy. If I have to start paying for cat litter bags, I'll just dump it on the street below my apartment. Anyone walking about ChamKar Morn, look up while doing so!

I take excellent care of my cats. It's the people in the street who might be in trouble!
Hey, lighten up - it was a joke. As well, your comment had no bearing on what I posted. Be nice or be gone.
