Oddar Meanchey Province: Immigration Corps Officials at O Smach International Border Gate have been criticized for taking state time or working hours to gather, drink beer, and demand tea money from people crossing the international border of O'Smach.
Cambodians traveling across Cambodia's border gates of O'Smach Gate earlier this week accused the international border gate immigration police officer of asking them to repay one million riel to enter Thailand.
The case has been reported by Cambodians as having become increasingly common to immigration police officers at the O'Smach international border checkpoint.
Some citizens have accused the immigration officials of taking the money from Cambodians crossing the border, , as well as Cambodian police officials, demanding a hundred baht for each Cambodian citizen.
However, according to press reports, Mr. Chea Pheang immigration police chief of the international border gate O'Smach hasdenied the allegations, stating that it was not true.

"We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
Why would Cambodians pay 100 bath and not just bypass the crossing?
Or do they get stamped in and out of their own country?
Or do they get stamped in and out of their own country?
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Strange as it may seem Cambodians need a stamp and exit card, same as foreign visitors, they just don’t need a visa. Locals have also been charged $2 for the immigration guy to fill out an exit card, that wasn’t given originally.Visser wrote:Why would Cambodians pay 100 bath and not just bypass the crossing?

I guess they want to keep tabs on them.
