Couldn't find a story to go with it, but here's a Cambodian in the news at the Country Cob Kyneton Bakery.
They seem to have some success in the pie and snot block stakes.

Cambodian Wins Best Aussie Pie Comp
There is nothing better than a freshly-baked pie, served piping hot with golden, flakey pastry and a delicious filling, but the flavour that has been crowned ‘Australia’s Best Pie’ is guaranteed to divide opinion.
The best pie in the country was officially selected at an awards ceremony last week, and it was Victoria-based Country Cob Bakery who walked away with the highest accolade, thanks to their gourmet Satay Seafood pie.
Baker Chan Khun, who moved to Australia from his home country of Cambodia in 2004, dreamed up the winning pie, which beat off 1,700 rival pies and pastries at the annual Baking Industry Trade Show, which took place at the Gold Coast Turf Club last Thursday.
The Cambodian-born baker said he got his first taste of a real Aussie pie whilst working in a pie factory in Melbourne, he said: ‘All the workers went down to this portable van for their lunch and kept coming back with these pies. I finally had one and it was a completely different taste — there’s no pastries in Cambodia.”

They would not stand a chance werent it for the cute blonde.
Every year in NZ and Australia, Cambodian bakers take out the top prizes for meat pie competitions...yet it's still impossible to get a decent (Kiwi/Aussie style) meat pie in Cambodia.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

There was a place calls Kiwi Bakery open over a year ago in Siem Reap, tastes exactly just like back home opened by Khmer people from Auckland. Everyone loves their pies but unfortunately it did not last long due to poor management skills.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Every year in NZ and Australia, Cambodian bakers take out the top prizes for meat pie competitions...yet it's still impossible to get a decent (Kiwi/Aussie style) meat pie in Cambodia.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I can't believe there is an organization that officially rates meat pies.
The snot block / vanilla slice panel are disappointed your disbelief didn't extend to their expertise.McPhisto wrote:I can't believe there is an organization that officially rates meat pies.

I think the winner should be. Using quality ingredients to make a pie...Steve Zodiac wrote:Were the Aussies caught cheating again & disqualified?
Pies are meant to be made from generally inedible scraps left over from the floor of the meatworks. Pies should only ever be consumed whilst attending a football match or during smoko on the building site.

Gone dunnit again mate.
The results are in! Australia's best meat pie for 2023 has been unveiled.
Aussies are big fans of the humble pie and there was some stiff competition for this coveted annual ranking.
The official champion for Australia's Best Pie, according to Australia's Best Pie & Pastie Competition 2023, has been revealed as Country Cob Bakery's Fish Amok pie.
It's an unconventional pie filling for the overall winner, a small bakery which has three locations Boronia, Kyneton and Springvale in Victoria.
Owners Chan and Ryan Khun also took home the best seafood pie category for the same pie, as well as best mushroom pie category for their Black Forest Pie and best flavour beef pie category for their Pepper Beef option.
"We finally did it," the proud bakers shared on Instagram.
"We have just won the title of the 2023 Australia's Best Pie. After a tough 3 days competition amongst 340 other bakeries across the nation, our Fish Amok Pie took out the top gong for this year's competition."
Country Cob Bakery was also crowned winner in 2021 and 2022. Last year, their plain beef pie took out the top gong and the year prior was for their caramelised pork and pepper pie.
The Fish Amok pie is a Cambodian-style pie made with Barramundi and curry sauce.
The annual competition also crowned the winner of Australia's Best Pastie, which was earned by Samuel Gee Pies & Pastries in Balaclava, NSW.
Gold, silver and bronze medals were given out to dozens of boutique and family-owned bakeries for their delicious pies for the 2023 competition.
Banana Boogie Bakery in Belair, South Australia won for the best Plain Mince Beef Pie.
Rolling Pin Pies, which has three locations across Victoria, also took out the gong for best Chunky Plain Beef Pie.
The Baking Association of Australia held the 2023 awards, which saw 380 bakeries enter over 1500 pies to be judged over the three days of the competition.
Pies were eaten both cold and hot by judges to determine the winners in an objective and thorough manner, with judges sampling 70 pies each per day.
"This event is very important and plays a vital role for the baking industry," the Baking Association of Australia said of the event, which this year was held in Sydney.
