Anyways, here’s the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-45327301On the day of his arrest, the Cambodia Daily published its last ever newspaper as it was shut down in a crackdown on independent media.

Former Cambodia Daily journalist strikes again
Without mentioning his affiliation to the Cambodia Daily, “independent journalist” George Wright got an article published in BBC titled “Jailed for standing up to a strongman”. As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t think it’s productive to use language like this:

Well it’s not exactly wrong is it?
It’s obviously not complete information as it doesn’t mention the tax problems. But I’m not sure I’d take issue with that statement.
Have there been many independent media sources who escaped unscathed?

It's pretty obvious that neither that journalist nor the BBC care about what you think. Don't take it personally.Miguelito wrote:As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t think it’s productive to use language like this:
I have heard of a remote prison near the Vietnamese border where people from Prey Saw are taken. A truck comes to the the jail regularly early in the morning and removes those without families and probably troublemakers.
They are never seen again.
They are never seen again.

I know Playboy and I have had our differences, but I didn't want that for him. He's been gone weeks now.

That scenario does have an eerily familiar ring to it ...violet wrote:crazyjohn wrote:I have heard of a remote prison near the Vietnamese border where people from Prey Saw are taken. I am sure you are quite right in that regard.Alex wrote:It's pretty obvious that neither that journalist nor the BBC care about what you think. Don't take it personally.Miguelito wrote:As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t think it’s productive to use language like this:
But I’m simply saying that it’s becoming an echo chamber where ex daily staffers are able to drive the narrative that it was shut down under some conspiracy, yet there has been zero proof (or even mention) that the tax bill was bogus. May it be a HRW report (with the editor defending the lack of sources to the claim with “come on, everyone knows THAT”), to a BBC article written by an ex staffer. If the author wants to come out and state that he paid salary tax for his tenue and the government is mistaken, then that would be noteworthy.
