China is still welcome. Perhaps this is a cunning way for them to move in.
Evicting people in Shitville was terrible PR. Revoking leases and keeping deposits because of the virus might just do the trick.

The Chinese are banned from visa on arrival now too, right?

Sure, but I’d wager that the only place where you’ll have a blood test negative for COVID-19, a visa from an embassy and a plane ticket within 72 hours is in China.
Good luck meeting the 72 hour rule anywhere but in China. They also get 2-3 year visas mind you, it’s not a problem if they can’t get it on arrival if they’ve already got it.

Who cares. More importantly, when will the pubs be open over here?
It's gonna drive me batshit, i swear.

I did not go, despite the airline’s assurances it was ok. And that was the right call. Marriott was great about cancelling/rescheduling. Emirates have been terrible.
Also canceled purchased flights to France for last week, and canceled a US trip in May (not to mention the many KNY travel changes).
I don’t mind not traveling for a month or two, but it sucks we can’t even look into the future and plan anything at all. Not complaining, of course I’m in a fortunate situation, just saying.
Just email EK to cancel your flight before the departure of the remaining segments you want to cancel.
Tell them, you know it's not refundable, though want your taxes back. This way, it's even cheaper to buy a low-cost return and cancel the return with money back on the taxes, than to purchase a one-way ticket (Assuming you fly Economy for that 50 min stretch).
EK economy is significantly cheaper than about any airline between BKK and PNH, even when purchased (on-line) a few hours before departure AND they tend to be pretty reliable on schedule.
Seat padding at EK in economy is terrible though...... Once, but never again

It was business r/t. I spoke with them on the phone beforehand and exchanged several emails. They're being weird and not giving direct answers. I definitely informed them before leaving that I would not be on the flight. I believe they canceled me, but wouldn't give me a solid answer on any refund (ticket or taxes), and a vague promise to follow up about rescheduling.
Don't call, just online cancel and "state" you want the taxes returned. Got my refund within a week or so. No further questions asked. With J class, the relative value of the taxes is minimal.Miguelito wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 9:59 amIt was business r/t. I spoke with them on the phone beforehand and exchanged several emails. How was the J class seat ?
