Out of interest, what do people think embassies should be doing? Chartering flights? Seconding hotels? Beyond the advice that has been out there for several weeks i.e. be careful where you travel too (i.e. NOT ASIA) and please consider returning home, to eventually "return home now", what to do with the people who ignore that who now are left stuck here?

Qatar has reversed their decision and they are continuing their flights to Doha and beyond. Korean Air & Asiana still fly to Seoul (I won't recommend ANA, as they only fly 10 more days or any of the Chinese airlines but there is that). I saw that a charter with Malaysian Airlines - who no longer fly to PP, BTW as Malaysia is closed for foreigners - is being organized for around the 10th of April.
One tip: Book a r/t ticket, even if you have no intentions of taking the return flight as one way's with a full service airline tend to be very expensive.
If you don't have money, have a friend or relative send you some. Unless you don't have anyone nobody really needs to be stranded here. Stop expecting your embassy to bail you out, it'll just frustrate you on top of the stress you might already be experiencing.

The "Stranded in Cambodia UK" Facebook group is really entertaining.

Apparently, Malaysia Airways scheduled a flight from Cambodia to London for April 3. Then they canceled it and yesterday they announced a flight on April 1. A bunch of people booked, Malaysia Airways took their money, now they have canceled the April 1 flight. I would not trust Malaysia Airways or any airlines to give cash refunds these days.

Lots of people expecting big things from embassy and foreign office. Wanting free repatriation and to be able to bring along their Khmer partners.
Agreed. Stick with an airline that still has a regular schedule.Durian Gray wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 7:33 amI would not trust Malaysia Airways or any airlines to give cash refunds these days.
Did people actually hand over money to Malaysian already (since you couldn't bokk this flight online)?

Hard to believe that these people come from the same stock as Henry Hudson, Robert Falcon Scott, William Dampier, or Captain James Cook.

They made it home!
One of them remained behind as she found love with an admin on a Cambodia Expat forum.

Word on the street is they went out drinking with their tuk tuk driver and forgot where they parked their brooms.
