CP All Plc, the conglomerate’s SET-listed retail arm, has concluded a deal with the US firm to operate 7-Eleven stores through CP All (Cambodia) Co beginning in 2021.
The first outlet will open in Phnom Penh, a spokeswoman for the Japanese retail group Seven & I Holdings Co said.

How will 7-Eleven compete with Kiwi Mart, Angkor Mart, 99 Mart, Aeon Mart, Panda Mart, Star Mart, Circle-K, Smile Mart and Neil’s Mart?

If it as good as Thailand it will piss on them, but if it is like Malaysia n Indonesia then it will be nothing other than anorther mini-mart.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

Agreed. Thai 7-11s have all sorts of shit that most other countries don't have. A good example is their wide variety of small meals/snacks, some of which are very cheap and actually edible. Why do I suspect this will not be available in the Cambodian version?

agree ,7/11 is far superior, (as long as its stocked the same as thailand) than anything Cambodia currently offers.
BUT note;they said 7/11 was coming back in 2015..

CP is bigger than all those Cambodian chains. It owns Five Star chicken
Actually, have a look at AEON2 supermarket and you would be impressed. It's not really cheap, though the product range is huge, super huge.Phuket2006 wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 8:26 amagree ,7/11 is far superior, (as long as its stocked the same as thailand) than anything Cambodia currently offers.
...
As long as they have the same door chimes as Siam, and all the staff say 'sawadee caaaaa' (or whatever the local equivalent here is) the competition doesn't stand a chance.

The Super Duper marts do a good job of that (well-trained staff, clean, properly stocked etc).

And the dogs chilling by the doors waiting for that blast of cold air!
I love 7-11 in Thailand you can buy single bananas, individual sachets of rehydration powders , as well as small quantities of basic medicines, sewing kits, glue all sorts of stuff as well as beer and snacks. As a touring cyclist the place is heaven and there is always one within 40k which means that one doesn't need to carry extra water, and supplies.
Best shop in the world in my opinion way better than Harrods.

When you look at what CircleK is stocking & their pricing here in PP, it has nothing to do with the CircleK of Vietnam
Probably it will be similar with 7/11.
No way they will import everything that is sold in the Thai's franchise shops.
Only way for mini marts to have cheaper prices is to have local production. Until then, pay more, because everything is imported.

I'm not a huge sweet tooth or anything, but it's nice in Thailand to get a drink, a snickers, a sandwich and maybe some walkers crisps for less than 75 baht.upstage2 wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 2:35 pmWhen you look at what CircleK is stocking & their pricing here in PP, it has nothing to do with the CircleK of Vietnam

In a mart here, that lot would be at least $5.
7-11 USA was quite the disappointment for the missus. Amazon made up for it though

Some even sell a decent assortment of fruit and vegetables.
