Encouraging expats in Cambodia to get health insurance so they don't end up having their families begging online is clearly riding a high horse. Mea culpa.
Please everyone: Take that extra few beers a night. Get that extra bargirl or two.
Your family will thank you when they're reduced to appealing on gofundme to get your sorry ass back home.
Isn't gfm really just like passing the hat around.
Best of luck to him.

There will be a fundraiser this Saturday at 8pm for Adam at The Pub, Street 174:
Folks in Phnom Penh, please mark your calendars for an important event this Saturday 20th February.
As many of you may be aware, our great friend Adam Parker suffered a stroke in Late January and is presently in a hospice facility here in Phnom Penh undergoing treatment & rehabilitation.
We are holding a benefit night/ fundraiser at The Pub on Street 174 to help raise funds to assist in his treatment & rehabilitation.
Entry will be by donation - whatever you feel you are able to contribute (no minimum or maximum amount set).
The night will feature some of the leading musicians in Phnom Penh, all of whom have come forward to generously donate their time & talent to this cause, along with other features throughout the night.
I hope you can find some time to come along and lend your support to Adam in this most difficult time.
Good luck with that. Hope it makes enough to get him back to the UK and rehab.
What is going to happen to the Pub? Will that Khmer guy be taking over?

Mol has managed it since day one, plus around 10 years in the walkabout and running all the Bayon advertising too, so I'd imagine that he could continue to do so.
Is there an update on Adam?
He's in England.Unformity wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 3:59 pmIs there an update on Adam?
His mates and family clubbed together to hire a nurse to escort him on the flight to England. He was met by care home staff and is now recuperating in a care home there.

Am an oldish (circa 2008) friend of Adam - how is he doing?
He's doing okay. He's back in Cambodia, at The Pub. However, the business is closing down in a few weeks and he's returning to England for good. Procured a house this week.BlondeJesus wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:42 pmAm an oldish (circa 2008) friend of Adam - how is he doing?
One of the first persons I met when I washed ashore here back in the 1990s (at the then usual Phnom Penh expat haunts). Glad to know he is still alive and kicking.
First met Adam 22 years ago. Sorry to hear of his setback. I wonder if his 'bashing' about 20 years ago contributed to his stroke.
The bashing he got at the beach?

I doubt very much that a "bashing" 20 years ago contributed to his stroke. Boxers and rugby players as well as other sportsmen take many blows to the head over many years and although some do eventually suffer brain disorders I can't recall one getting a stroke in middle age. Much more likely it was 25 (or more)years of boozing every night, an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, being overweight and never seeing the sun unless it was rising that probably caused his stroke.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
What ever his reason for having to leave the KOW,
I trust to him health and a mind that still is willing to explore the wonders of this earth..

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

Can't see any connection. Heinz was more likely to have a stroke, looking over his shoulder ever after.Geoff 2 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 9:49 amFirst met Adam 22 years ago. Sorry to hear of his setback. I wonder if his 'bashing' about 20 years ago contributed to his stroke.
