Sorry, they were only back for 3 days.
Thursday was a PD day for staff, Friday public holiday.
Schools Closed again.
All kids vaccinated seems impossible as the campaign has just started up. Do you mean all kids got their first shot?
Mine go to a different school and lessons will resume only after a second dose has been given. With the Khmer holiday upcoming I do expect them to return somewhere mid-October/early November.

Understandable, the China vaccines aren't strong enough to combat the India version, giving an R0 >> 1.
All 12-18 high school kids have received their second dose at ISPP. Only the secondary/high school was open, now it is online again.Whazzup wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 6:58 pmAll kids vaccinated seems impossible as the campaign has just started up. Do you mean all kids got their first shot?

The campaign for teenage kids ended quite a while back. My kid has been back at school for a couple of weeks and the students are required to be vaccinated.Whazzup wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 6:58 pmAll kids vaccinated seems impossible as the campaign has just started up. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Hi Rama,
Any more info?
Who ordered them closed again? (ISPP Board or their 'Covid Health Committee'? A local Gov department - Education? Health? Sangkat Chief?A higher level official, MoH or MoEYS)??
And, if you know and can say, define more precisely "Someone in the ISPP Community'. Teacher, Admin staff, support staff (cleaners, guards), parent? Do they require all teachers to be fully vaccinated?
The point: How high a risk is required to order a school closed again? If minimal risks require closing of in-class, it sounds more sensible for city schools to wait till November trends are clear.
Cheers!

Virtually every country has had policy flip flops concerning the pandemic. Only natural, as it was brand new. Not sure if the new trend (Nikkei: Cambodia COVID cases plummet after PM orders reduced testing) to stop pursuing asymptomatic cases in Cambodia will continue for years, months, or only days, but as long as it does continue, it means schools once opened are more likely to remain open. With Cambodia's vaccination rates, I think this a good thing. Schools can be encouraged to test staff periodically (weekly?), and certainly tell staff and students who feel sick to stay home, but primarily use masks and distancing to limit virus transmission.
New strains or serious increases in hospitalization might again force shut downs, but now, if schools can open without harms, by all means, let's do it. A sick guard or cleaner should remain at home, paid, but if asymptomatic, that should not close a whole well vaccinated school.

These are all measures that are already in place.Guest9999 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 2:52 pmSchools can be encouraged to test staff periodically (weekly?), and certainly tell staff and students who feel sick to stay home, but primarily use masks and distancing to limit virus transmission.

Yes, LL you are correct, I merely hope they can realize that keeping schools open should by now be a government high priority, and closing them should be a last resort, not the first action when the bank cashier cousin of a school cleaner tests positive.
