Cambodia Covid-19 community spread update
This morning the Ministry of Health reported 25 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Cambodia, of which 23 are related to the February 20 community transmission incident.
Of the 23 newly added patients, 21 are Chinese and 2 are Cambodian.
21 of them have been sent to hospital for treatment. A 43 year old Cambodian woman refused medical treatment because she has to take care of a child, and a 23 year old Chinese man ran away. The Ministry of Health is currently searching for them hoping that they will cooperate with the epidemic prevention regulations.
The other two imported cases are Cambodian peacekeepers returning from Africa, who were diagnosed after returning to Cambodia on February 21.
Prime Minister Hun Sen issued an emergency speech last night stating that since the February 20 incident the number of people diagnosed in three days has exceeded 100. This incident is "unprecedented and more serious than previous incidents", he said.
The status of new cases is as follows:
- February 20: 32 new cases confirmed. 29 of them were community transmission cases. 28 Chinese and 1 Vietnamese.
- February 21: 17 new cases confirmed. 15 of them were community transmission cases. 14 Chinese, 1 Vietnamese.
- February 22: 35 new cases confirmed. 31 of them were community transmission cases. 19 Chinese, 11 Cambodian, 1 South Korean.
- February 23: 25 new cases confirmed. 23 community transmission cases.
Since February 20, a total of 109 cases have been confirmed in Cambodia, including 98 cases of community transmission. Among them 82 are Chinese, 13 Cambodian, 2 Vietnamese and 1 South Korean.
Phnom Penh and Kandal schools closed
Most of the cases discovered related to the February 20 incident are related to the N8 nightclub in Phnom Penh. Since the nightclub had a staff member living in Kandal, Kandal province restaurants and entertainment venues were ordered to close. 7 schools in Phnom Penh were ordered to close after a parent tested positive.
On Monday evening Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that schools in Phnom Penh and Kandal will be temporarily closed for 14 days. At the same time, Prime Minister Hun Sen asked people from other provinces not to travel to Phnom Penh in the near future to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

I still think you’re a prick - but thanks for the link.
So with the infections increasing does anybody have an idea of ventilator and healthcare capacity in Phnom Penh? I thought early quarantaine guests mentioned the lack / absense of ventilators. There was a small effort by Arrowdot to make cheap emergency ventilators a while back.
Upto 64 new cases today.
If theses are mutant genes, uk, south africa and brazil genomes, the vaccine is not going to stop the mutations getting ahead of the curve worldwide and its game on again.

At least 8, organised by the WHO via a loan to purchase.YellowFlu wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 2:10 pmSo with the infections increasing does anybody have an idea of ventilator and healthcare capacity in Phnom Penh? Even some western countries had surprisingly low numbers of medical ventilators prior to the epidemic.

Today 41, where 37 involve in Feb20CE.
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
Yes, but they aren't counting Chinese who are testing + when going to get health certs to leave the country as part of Feb. 20.
Also, 2 Chinese who tested + have gone missing.
SHV also effectively gone into lockdown with people told not to travel, stay inside and work from home if possible.

Looks like the Covid-19 spread is getting out of control: Khmer Times
The strange thing is, despite nearly 1000 registered infections, no deaths. Might be related to largely younger people getting infected and being fat is far less common than in the US or UK as well the older Cambodians being tough people, though still.

Why are foreigners still travelling to Cambodia when it looks a Covid lockdown is imminent?
Cases, cases, great!
How many of them are really sick?

This is interesting.
Private hospitals now authorized to treat covid. As I understood (maybe I am wrong) covid treatment is free in government facilities. I'm sure private clinics won't offer the same deal...
I guess there is going to be some people complaining online about big bills being levied upon them after they get dropped off at one of these private clinics.

Yeah, given the overload of government clinics, it would be more of a "take it or leave it" situation. Provided you do have proper medical insurance, that should not be a real issue.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 9:27 amhttps://m.phnompenhpost.com/national/pr ... 9-patients
