Escape from Sokha Hotel: An Expose
Speaking of laundry:
Is it still the case that Cambodian citizens are not legally allowed to gamble in Cambodian Casinos? And how about Kandal casinos? There was a time when Naga had a legally contracted Phnom Penh Casino monopoly. Only casino allowed to operate within 300km of Phnom Penh, I think it stipulated. Are both these old 'facts' no longer true?

Yes "Article 68 of the law states: “All Cambodian people, including members of the armed forces, public servants and elected officials, are banned from entering casinos or commercial game facilities to gamble.”Guest9999 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 2:42 pmSpeaking of laundry:

Border areas (and some mountain tops) are exempt.
"NagaCorp, the owner and operator of Cambodian integrated resort NagaWorld, has signed an amendment to its exclusivity agreement with the Royal Government of Cambodia extending its exclusive rights to operate casinos within a 200-kilometer radius of Phnom Penh by 10 years until 2045.
In an overnight announcement, NagaCorp revealed that those exclusivity rights have now been extended for 10 years from 1 January 2036 until 31 December 2045, with the company having made a one-off US$10 million payment to the Royal Government of Cambodia upon signing of the amended agreement. It will also pay US$3 million on an annual basis each year between 2036 and 2045.
The agreement restricts any other companies from operating casinos within 200 kilometers of Phnom Penh with the exception of the Cambodia-Vietnam border area, Bokor, the Kirirom Mountains and Sihanoukville."
Don't believe there is a casino on Kirirom yet, am I right?

The Kandal casinos are only a few hundred meters from the Vietnamese border.Guest9999 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 2:42 pmSpeaking of laundry:

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Ah, I see.
So,... that may well be better for those poor Naga owners, but now my heart bleeds for those poor tired girls. It gets worse and worse what they've been put through. No doubt rushed off their private jet in the dark, through the airport kerfuffle and into their luxury hotel (not even a true 5 star I've heard tell). Then, likely agin in the dark -who has time for details - they are woken near midnight for a quick one, or six, all the time in movement between various hands in various attractive locations, hardly time to shower, let alone rest, and then, then, forced to travel by mere land vehicle down to the coast and out to far edges of the country. Horrible. Horrible!
At least the airplane-tire-shooting former owner of The Grand Duke, used two of the world's largest helicopters to ferry his prize merchandise from one locale to another.
Sorry, I digress.

It does seem a tad inconsistent though when compared with the security guard.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:05 amThey were named weeks ago, not my problem if you haven't been keeping up.L.L answered 4 No, he didn't- where are their names, if they were named, why did KT not repeat them if they were in the public domain
We've had his name and photos released, pic of him in a cell and pics of him cuffed up on the back of a truck.
But the girls...very little since the first few days. They must still be in recovery in hospital...maybe when they get released there will be more of a furore.
Though if they were willing participants then they should be treated differently than if they were trafficked.

Wouldn't if be nice if they just paid some taxes. Isnt there supposed to be some special convoluted tax deal that exists that even the ministers responsible claimed would be to complicated to explain how naga paid was it $3million tax on $1billion profit (0.3%)Bong Burgundy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 4:40 pmAnd in other news just in

I checked for you on Feb 7:LifeJacket wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:32 amI tried to look back into flightradar24 and similar websites but for free accounts they go back for just a few days/weeks. It would be interesting to see what entity flies them in and how this happens....
- Around 8:30LT, a Hawker 850 probably came in from BKK (Transponder turned off, 30 min before PNH).
- Around 10:30LT, a G550 came in from SIN.
- Around 16:00LT, an unidentified type/call-sign came in from China, where the transponder only got turned on in the air.
The Hawker from BKK and the G550 from SIN, I have seen those more often.
The other China one, could be the offending one, shady, because it did fly without transponder in China, which would trigger military, etc. So, maybe the aircraft did originally come from Dubai, though first went to China.......
All other flights are all regular commercial.
It's normal, these private planes do show little information in FR24. It could even be, there were more of these, when the owner filed the request to be not publicly listed with their flights.

You seem to know a bit about this. So about how much would it cost to charter a small jet like the ones you mentioned from Dubai to here? There have been Chinese hookers in Phnom Penh for as long as I can remember. Manhattan Club, Le Casa, whatever. Somehow these women commanded high prices, even 15 years ago they were able to get $200 for a few hours. There were some rotten Russian hookers from Vladivostok around in those days too who got similar rates because of their translucent white marbled skin. It could of course be some tycoon who doesn't give a shit about expenses flying them in but the reports indicate that they were out selling their asses as soon as they escaped the hotel. International trafficking, what's the big deal?v12 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 7:20 pmI checked for you on Feb 7:LifeJacket wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:32 amI tried to look back into flightradar24 and similar websites but for free accounts they go back for just a few days/weeks. The Gulfstream G550 flies for roughly USD 6K - 7K per hour, highly depending on how many hours the airplane flies per year.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:54 pmYou seem to know a bit about this. Flight time between DBX and PNH is something like 6.5 hours.
So, total costs roughly USD 40K - 45K. That's largely independent of the amount of people on board. Add small change for taxes, etc.
For 20 people, roughly USD 2K - 2.3K per person. Single journey. For return, double that price.

Thanks, sounds like it's not as expensive as I thought.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
An amazing coincidence the timing of that Naga world gift.
Publicly traded now, isn't it (?), but I thought I recall earlier, when it was still in the boat behind the Cambodiana, that a big chunk of the ownership was Malaysian. If so, how did it evolve into the gaming giant we see today? Planning giant Chinese theme parks a stones throw from the Angkor temples, and chartering private jets for VIP gambler fluffers.
Not that ownership histories has any connection to the Feb 20 Event, just curious.
And, don't think my query above means I'm not impressed with the contract tracing effort they are putting in. Not sure how this all will pan out, the crematorium post is grim, but they do have a great many people working very hard trying to tamp this outbreak down. They deserve full credit for it!

The good news is, the number of positive tests is not on an exponential scale and not even increasing.Guest9999 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 4:33 pm.....

So, the outbreak is not contained yet, though it's neither "spreading" like a virus normally does.
