Govt begins construction of large crematoriums for Covid-19 deaths
Phnom Penh has begun the construction of a 10 hectare crematorium consisting of 6 furnaces.
The construction has started after Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday ordered provincial and municipal administration across the country to build cremation fields in the suburbs for cremating the bodies of deceased Covid-19 patients.
"I think we need a clear way to deal with it. I have discussed with Mam Bunheng (Minister of Health) and we have decided to use cremation", Hun Sen said.
A spokesperson for the Phnom Penh Municipality said on Friday that in order to ensure public health and safety, the crematorium will be built 110 kilometers from the Phnom Penh city center.
"We are eradicating land. The crematorium covers an area of 10 hectares and has 6 furnaces that meet the required standards", he said.
The construction of the crematorium will operate 24 hours to ensure that the crematorium is completed as soon as possible.
Minister of Health Ma Bunheng and Minister of Justice Koeut Rith are currently drafting a decree stipulating that deceased Covid-19 patients must be cremated within hours of their death, except for Muslims and other ethnic minorities where cremation conflicts with their religion.
"We need to formulate a law that stipulates that deceased Covid-19 patients must be cremated within a few hours after their death, and limit the number of people participating in the cremation ceremony", Hun Sen said.

Bringing the news. You stay classy, nas, Cambodia.
It's almost as if they know it is going to get very bad very soon.
So lets get this straight. Cambodia has one covid death and HE decides to build 6 furnaces over 10 hectares just as the vaccine program rolls out. Sounds like the killing fields part two. Watch as all his political foes mysteriously catch covid and get flamed.
Except for moslems and other miner religions they all get incinerated in the interest of public safety.
Wasnt it the exceptions that got us to these measures.

Fucking hell, this seems a bit ominous.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
That must be a typo; 10 hectare crematorium with 6 furnaces? WTF?? What other country has done that?

Once covid is eradicated, they can lease the furnaces to Vladimir.

I don’t know what more disappointing ..... that an obviously satirical post, written by a tongue in cheek profile ....a) is taken seriously by so many ... or ...b) this webpage would post such an article without a warning for the weak minded in these uncertain times ...... shame on Khmer440 .....
Seems like a great solution to take care of our yellow border hopping friends. We catch them, go straight to the ovens, no quarantine. Let's see how fast they reroute to Thailand or Vietnam.

Is the "Cambodia China Times" a reputable source?
Because it seems incongruous.
