Khmer Times, in rushing to compete with FB, seems to happily take some risks.
E.G. March 24th "Is Cambodia slowly heading towards nationwide movement restrictions to control pandemic?"
The article is designed to raise Feb 20 Event questions and point fingers towards un-named guilty parties.
On the one hand, the article is timely. Cambodians are worried that the Feb 20 Event is not yet under control, and information about it is much, much more sketchy than the earlier two "Community Events": there ARE loads of who, what, where, when and how questions unanswered about it. (I, for one, am bloody curious. I may be a powerless pawn, an ant under the feet of fighting elephants as the Khmer proverb says, but this shut down has impacted me greatly and it would make me feel a tiny bit better if I had some names to blame.)
On the other hand, I'm also curious what they seek to achieve by this finger pointing. It seems the high and mighty wish to step on their obvious inferiors. I'm sure this has nothing to do with impending ministry shuffling or upcoming elections, of course, but one does wonder.
Check it out. Is it KT risk taking, or a safe as housing statement of humble owner affiliation?
Khmer Times lists some Feb 20 Event incongruities
This is a case where The Khmer Times is wholly biased and accurate at the same time. Yes, KT has an agenda and is affiliated with one particular faction of the Party. As a result of the disaster of the "February 20th incident", the PM lost patience with the person (whom I will not name) responsible for oversight of the nation's handing of the coronavirus. The government is not going to publicly allocate blame or admit previous negligence; what the PM has done is put his eldest son in charge. Now I can tell you - Hun Manet does not fuck about - he really doesn't. He's rapidly dealt with prior fucktardary - you should have noticed a sea-change in the seriousness of the response. As a result, I think we should be confident the government has a handle on this outbreak and is currently bringing it under control.
What you said rings true, especially with all the military trucks charging around everywhere. I certainly won't complain if H.M. solves it and shines. Competence should be rewarded, fair enough.
Saying Party "faction" is OK, as long as it doesn't imply real division where none perhaps exists.
There was a time when white folks (me too) pretended to be in the know and talked of the Chea Sim - Sar Kheng "Side" of the party. We speculated one side leaned towards Vietnam and old ways but the Chea Sim Side could be more progressive and leaned, slightly at least, towards the west. Mr. T Banh in Koh Kong, we said, had pretty fair independence and Ke Kim Yan was no wimp either. The division turned out to be ephemeral.
