Nighttime Curfew for Phnom Penh Announced
If the goal is to reduce people partying I understand the curfew. But why allow the minions their New Year celebration? That will be a super spreading event as we all know what happens during New Year. So unless they cancel it this curfew is utterly useless and only helps to kill businesses faster than without it.
Just for a friend, are there now more freelancers out and about in daytime? Or have they all packed up and went home when bars and ktv closed down?

V12 statement make a lot of sense. If everyone follow the restrictions we will get out of this turmoil.v12 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 5:03 amCompared to the Chinese way, it's just a half-ass implementation. So, we should be happy about that.
Curfew 20:00 - 5:00 is a good one to prevent partying and gambling out, which it seems, tends to be the collection of superspreaders.
It's all about getting the R0 down for the infected area's and avoiding spreading to other areas at all.
Not nice to be the quarantine/curfew target, though much better control as many (if not most) Western countries. I don't like disguised dictators, though it's not that bad IMHO.

I suppose Cambodia could get worse. It has.
but..
Cambodia goes from one of the most easy-going places on earth (as well as Thailand) to borderline North Korea. I noticed the junta in Burma exploited this hysteria as well. Not to mention China. And for the heads: no kidding it's worldwide, these are striking examples.
As far as The World goes, this mindset of 'just do whatever they tell you' is so disgustingly and dishearteningly embarassing to me as a Gen X'er. We bridge a gap. That is inconveniet for some. They love canceling us. Of course!-it's always about 'reducing crime" and increasing "safety"...even though it''s literally stated to be about reducing Covid. The powers that be are like armed salesmen.
We have about six independent vaccines? in a mere year?? for a Virus?? and the all too human experts are flip-flopping on mask mandates and recommending more mask layers and class based travel openings and hardline politics and out-of-touch business closures and rather than provide hope, we hear more about how it's just going to go on and on... ignoring any. other. costs. SIX. VAC.CINES! One year later! Shouldn't there be fireworks?
People don't seem too rushed, too pushed by the powers that be to get jabbed. do they?
So in Cambodia the cops congregate at The Monument in order to stop the spread of Covid by hookers, johns, ice heads and..gangsters? Yet, the hotels meant to contain, the virus, from..foreign barbarians, and esteemed guests..are the places actually unleashing it?, at least on record. on and on and on..
Wow, that's a whole range of angrinesses towards the world and Cambodia specially. Maybe first grow up, to be in charge (and find out ruling isn't that easy), before further commenting.melontool wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 1:42 pm....

v12,
All learn by trying. Mellon tool is trying. S/he cares strongly about it and there ARE truths scattered through his comment mixed with the straw. Better to encourage Melontool to post more,
(Hell, the name alone is wonderful. I imagine a double headed melon tool. Two different sized small metal scoops at either end of an easily grasped central handle. Maybe painted wood. Likely a clever small air hole centered at the back of each tiny stainless steel half-globe, allowing the excised melon balls to drop without a vacuum building behind each ball. And melontool, like me, is sometimes more concerned with the feel of the chosen words than with their precise meaning. Not great writing but at least we can be nearly entertaining. Nearly.
Also, how about Cambodian coconut tool 'dogs'? I think all who know them love them.)

That is not how it works in the real world. Rulers are not smarter, more knowledgeable or deserving than the others. They make it their life goal to get to the top, often by unscrupulous means, and the most active ones succeed, often by destroying competition.v12 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 2:07 pmWow, that's a whole range of angrinesses towards the world and Cambodia specially. So please keep that condescending talk to your sheeplish self. People can and will discuss actions of the rulers, and are welcome to point to the rulers’ insanities, ignorance and incompetence. If you are fine to be ordered around like cattle, furthermore by rulers having no clue what they are doing, it’s up to you.

Guest answering guest ends up like nobody knows who the hell is responding to what? Is this GenX guy again or what?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Exactly. When I 'complained' about this, Alexandra said only 2 posters used 'Guest', scobie and Migs. Ok, but I didn't know which one I was slating as was difficult to know who said what.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 10:26 pmGuest answering guest ends up like nobody knows who the hell is responding to what? I do believe more post as just Guest now and really, Guest should have an identifier eg, Guest333.
Anyway, very annoying.
Yep the virus is taking back lost ground with a counter offensive that has world leaders cornered and economies crumpling under the strain.
This 2021 wave is building faster and higher with more sinister outcomes than the 2020 wave.
The 2020 wave was just the starter. The main course is still being cooked up.
This isnt lost on Cambodias lawmakers.
Things will get much worse before they get better for everyone.
Protect yourselves and your assets.

Yes, I know. There are quite some relevant elements in the post, though just dumping your brain on a forum is not going to work, not bringing you any further in a discussion.Guest9999 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 6:08 pmv12,

.....
"Complaining" about something (or a lot), without having thought about the "why this is happening", does not bring you any further than the majority of facebook (or twatter) postings.
So, better first channel your thoughts, evaluate, consider the pro and cons and then trickle your message to a public forum.
