Vaguely related (perhaps deserves its own thread): I wonder what will happen to all those who were employed only when the delivery sector burgeoned amidst COVID-related restrictions on dining in when COVID is a thing of the past, and people are again dining in?
Hundreds of delivery drivers and extra call-centre personnel, even whole new companies, suddenly unemployed or defunct?

I don't think there will be any noticeable difference. A lot are just students anyways. We've already seen a massive hit to the tuk tuk/three wheeler business. As an example, in 2019 there were about 33,000 rickshaws coming in from India. In 2020 that number dropped to under 4,000 I believe. People adapt, find different things to do, etc. Or just sleep more during the day as it sometimes appears.fidget wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 5:43 amVaguely related (perhaps deserves its own thread): I wonder what will happen to all those who were employed only when the delivery sector burgeoned amidst COVID-related restrictions on dining in when COVID is a thing of the past, and people are again dining in?

Its laughable that you think the likes of Food Pan-durr have hired new call centre staff.. they have the same thick-as-fuck twats on the phone who think its funny when you call them to say you just saw your driver riding with no hands while popping a wheelie down your street nearly knocking over a kid in the process.fidget wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 5:43 amVaguely related (perhaps deserves its own thread): I wonder what will happen to all those who were employed only when the delivery sector burgeoned amidst COVID-related restrictions on dining in when COVID is a thing of the past, and people are again dining in?

Food Panda officially sucks Panda Cock. They are by far and away the fucking worst of the lot, and they seem to have adopted the KFC hiring policy of taking any brain dead moron.
Food Pando must be feeling the negative press because there is no where near as much activity on the roads with them as there is with the like of Nahm24. I hope they fold soon enough.
I heard anecdotally that the Food Panda likes to messages restaurants owners at 1am in the morning asking why they they don't use their service - only to be told very succinctly at 1am why they do not.
Food Panda can fuck off - all hail Nahm24 - even if they are part owned by Jay from Brooklyn Pizza.
I did send acomplaint to Pooh Fandurr, obnoxiuos driver blaming me for him not finding the place and wanting $, not even an acknowledgement, now using other providers
Part-owned by Jay? Never knew.

The delivery guys are even more ruthless in traffic now they've been designated societal necessities, it seems even down my tiny alley they want to pass slower-moving vehicles at high speed while at the same time also operating their cellphones. And they have to because of the wonderful technology allowing for entrepreneurs to keep their employees on an ever tighter rope.

Are we all expecting the alcohol ban to be lifted on 22nd or another extension?
My money on a dine-in but no alcohol compromise.

Already been extended for another 2 weeks, directive issued a few hours ago
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

That reminds me, does anyone know why Brooklyn hasn't been accepting orders on Nham24 for the past week? On the app it says "open but not accepting orders".Harry Monk wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 8:58 am

My understanding is that dine-in is connected to the 5th May directive on zones, which have been extended for 2 weeks.ReasonstobefearfulP3 wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 7:09 amAh shit, is that everything extended (booze and dine in)?
This was the document that specified what yellow/dark yellow etc means, and said that restaurants are allowed takeaway only; gyms, schools, KTVs; liquor stores are closed etc.
However, the part about alcohol sales itself was a separate document which we don't have further info on yet. It's possible that while "liquor stores" may have to remain closed, the businesses that are allowed to open (minimarts, supermarkets, delivery blah blah) will be able to officially resume booze sales after 22nd. Clear as mud.
