Amen to this - like watching the lockdown in the UK & immediately the number of "what, even the pub?!" social media outcry was absurd. Looking at social media here & still seeing expat nightclubs trying to disguise themselves as restaurants "with DJ" still banging out parties is equally absurd. Stay at home, hardly difficult is it.

Meum est propositum in taberna mori,
ut sint Guinness proxima morientis ori.
tunc cantabunt letius angelorum chori:
"Sit Deus propitius huic potatori."
ut sint Guinness proxima morientis ori.

Extended till 8th May
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

That might pose a booze restocking problem
Alcohol ban extended ? Great News, less Karaoke Parties all night long where i live in Kampot, less accidents but unfortunately more hideouts where people can keep no social distance. Just saw trash collector filling up huge bags of empty Cambodia Cans and people on Moto's with new cases of Beer. Looks like the great Prohibition in the US where Speakeasy Cellar Pubs had it's golden time.

As far as I can work out, and from personal experience, alcohol wasn't banned. Having alcohol fueled gatherings were banned. Good idea too. There;e nothing wrong with a man drinking alone in his room, to paraphrase Tom Waits. Not this song but anyway:
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I was told the same thing, but I don’t think it is correct. I reckon it’s possibly only being enforced in critical areas.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 1:00 amAs far as I can work out, and from personal experience, alcohol wasn't banned. My local now sells booze in black bags I asked her if it was ok to sell. She said, ok to sell to you because we can hide but more difficult to sell to Khmer as they don’t want to buy a few, they want to buy a case.
Looks like one of those silly laws which isn’t really enforced and makes people think that all laws are optional.

And how does she get new supplies then?ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 7:32 amMy local now sells booze in black bags I asked her if it was ok to sell. She said, ok to sell to you because we can hide but more difficult to sell to Khmer as they don’t want to buy a few, they want to buy a case.
I don't know of any shop near me that still sells alcohol, although initially (the first few days of the ban) they indeed went on selling with cans in black plastic bags. Now, none.
I have it on good authority that the alcohol ban has only been extended in PP and in fact has now been lifted elsewhere.

Ah, no. It was actually from PSD-Kiwi, who I think we can all agree is a good authority!
Yeah I’ve just been told as well via a bar owner.Beerdrinker wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 2:09 pmAh, no. It was actually from PSD-Kiwi, who I think we can all agree is a good authority!
Let the mess commence. (I’ve lost 1.5kg in a week)
