Is the thirsty American in pre-trial or immigration detention? Still not sure if the intention is to kick him out or kick him in.
I keep confusing Thirsty Aaron with Narcissist Aaron.
Back in they Aarons were Daves. My how things have changed.

Not sure but the shop in question has been shut since. It’s next to a larger shop on the corner.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
I am able to keep track of the two Aarons by thinking of them as Thirsty Aaron and Fruitcake Aaron. While Thirsty Aaron does not get laid, it is not his fault, but rather all kinds of secret agents/assassins keep him from scoring gorgeous babes no matter what country he's in. And Fruitcake Aaron is a No Joke Howard wannabe and so therefore swings both ways. I do hope that whatever Thirsty Aaron's status behind bars is, that he gets released soon. I miss his posts and find him highly entertaining!
I hope he gets released soon also if he hasn’t already. How much was the damage? I mean a week in a Cambodian prison is surely enough.Marty9 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 9:03 amI am able to keep track of the two Aarons by thinking of them as Thirsty Aaron and Fruitcake Aaron. Authorities can’t do anything about thieving Englishmen but are happy to lock up potential schizophrenics.
Did he ever post here?

If he's in pre-trial then he will have to wait until the court appoints a date for his hearing. Given his low profile and lack of funds that will probably mean a long time as many other locals with similar means wait their turn. There's a big back-log. Around this time last year there were about 16,000 pre-trial detainees (that's around 40% of the prison population).
If he's in immigration detention then he needs to wait until the Minister of Interior signs the paperwork to have him put on a plane. That depends on when the authorities deem it time to put the paperwork in front of the aforementioned Deputy PM.
If he's reached out to the US Embassy then there is a chance he'll have some advocacy to move things along. It would not appear he has the resources the move things along without their assistance.
The Cambodia expats community don't need that kind of person. I hope it will be on a plane with a one way ticket and an none-grata stamp in is passport.

Don't we often find out months later that these people just quietly got released pretty shortly after their arrests?

I don't know what cases of English thieves getting away with their actions there are, but Thirsty Aaron clearly went off the deep end and committed a violent property crime. The damage was not much and could have been resolved without involving cops, but Thirsty Aaron has been mentally unwell for years and I like to see just how this nuttiness escalates and plays out. No, I don't think he posted here, but in piecing together info from here and TOF, I could find links to his highly entertaining videos.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 4:29 pmI hope he gets released soon also if he hasn’t already. Robert whitlow and Robert halliday are recent ones i can think of in terms of thieving Englishmen. Nothing against the English. I am one.Marty9 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 11:15 pmI don't know what cases of English thieves getting away with their actions there are, but Thirsty Aaron clearly went off the deep end and committed a violent property crime. This pre trial lock up seems to be a problem in many country’s, very sad indeed.
Suspects may be held in pre-trial detention for up to 4 months without charge. If charged they may spend another 18 months in detention before going to court. That's a maximum of 22 months before seeing a judge; 4 months without charge plus 6 months extendable 2 times after being charged. It's one of the reasons why people often pay their way out regardless if they're guilty or innocent.
Thirsty Aaron may still be held in detention without charge. If so, he ought to either be charged (and make the news again) by October, or silently released as per gavinmac's suggestion.
From the Code of Criminal Procedure:
Thirsty Aaron may still be held in detention without charge. If so, he ought to either be charged (and make the news again) by October, or silently released as per gavinmac's suggestion.
From the Code of Criminal Procedure:
Article 208 Duration of Provisional Detention in Case of Felony
For an adult involved in a felony, provisional detention may not exceed six months. However, when this time period ends, the investigating judge may extend provisional detention for another six months, by an order with a proper and express statement of reasons.
The extension may only be made twice.
Article 249 Provisions of Closing Orders in relation to Provisional Detention and Judicial
Supervision
The closing order terminates provisional detention. Article 276 (Release of a Detained Charged Person) of this Code shall apply.
However, by a separate decision issued together with the closing order, the investigating judge may order to keep the charged person in provisional detention until the time he is called to appear before the trial court. In his order, the investigating judge shall refer to the conditions defined in Article 205 (Reasons of Provisional Detention) of this Code.
The decision to keep the charged person in provisional detention ceases to be effective after
four months. If the charged person is not called to appear before the trial court within these four
months, the charged person shall be automatically released.
I heard he was released, care level rather low, unverified info
If he was released, prison must have reformed him. He's been at the same rap for several years, blaming all his woes and failures in life on secret agents/potential assassins. Oh I do hope he's not reformed and continues to entertain us.lazy feck og wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 12:58 pmI heard he was released, care level rather low, unverified info
I too, have nothing against the English, but we don't need the English. But that's beside the point. I haven't followed the two cases of English thieves you've mentioned, but I'm certain the circumstances are different from those of Thirsty Aaron, who had the cops called on him while he was causing the violent property damage to the shop. My guess is that Cambodians couldn't care less about the English screwing each other. On the contrary, they probably are as entertained by it as I am entertained by Thirsty Aaron!Guest wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 3:16 amRobert whitlow and Robert halliday are recent ones i can think of in terms of thieving Englishmen. I’ve met Aaron before back in early 2019 in SR.
He was a casual stoner and actually pleasant enough to talk to. He was taking online college classes and said that he decided to move to Cambodia to save money while doing so since the cost of living was so low compared to the states. He never gave off any hostile or dangerous vibes at that time. The only thing that was sort of strange about him was when we went to funky flashpacker for a drink and he saw some guys in a dress and freaked out for some reason. He just mumbled something as soon as he saw them then basically ran off while I was buying him a drink. I was very confused and tried to contact him, but he ghosted me after that.
