Yes, Mick. That name rings the bell... I remember more now of what he said. He was a real actor. After showing me his knife, he went on and on about how he was a merc in Africa after getting the boot from the British special ops. He told me how "hard it was" for him to join the French foreign legion because "he had one month to learn French..." Lol. Of course, it all sounded quite unbelievable, but I played along and asked him what it was like. At that point he described that it was a dirty dangerous business in Africa, etc, etc, on and on. And when you have to kill someone, you just kill him, no big deal. ...I think, maybe if he never was in any army, as you say, maybe he was just telling me his nightmares..?PSD_Kiwi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 3:00 pmMad Mick...he was nothing but a Walter Mitty, never ex-Brit Mil or FFL. He was deported from Cambodia a couple years ago and blacklisted for life, last I heard he was trying his hand at teaching in VietnamOrichá wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 3:26 pmI find it quite amusing that so many of you enjoy posting about this sore loser military dummy... A dime a dozen, they live in tents back in the States...
It all reminds me of a guy I met in Kampot six years ago, an ex-British Special Forces... What an awful creep! The effing weirdest shyster I ever met in Cambodia. This asshole toad carried a long curved bladed knife in a holster on his waist or leg... He was making a big thing about being some kind of immortal killer, and his whole demeanor and spiel was threatening -- amusing but scary, too.
I wonder if that creep is still alive? He had grungy long hair, looked half-mad. Was friendly, but the way he told stories, was weird... He claimed to be living on a farm for several years at some distance from Kampot. He claimed to be ex-British forces and ex-French Foreign Legion. He joined the French after getting booted out of the British service... Another good reason to avoid Kampot, lol... Maybe he is dead by now?
Yep, Mick claimed that he was receiving pensions and/or disability money from both the British and French army amounting to over two thousand pounds a month... and living for years on a farm 8 or 18 kms out of town...
How or why was he deported? Probably just after a brawl or something.
(Lucky for me, nobody has ever harassed or attacked me here in Cambodia. I have never got angry in public, except once or twice. Once when the neighboring building's tenants where I used to live at Victory heaped all their mountains of garbage right outside of my gate during the peak of the spinach dog days in 2018/2019... If you are civil and stay cool when others go gonzo, it isn't that difficult to remain in one piece... take a breath, watch "edge of tomorrow" with tommy scientist...)

He was mental, living in a pure fantasy land, full of bullshit stories which changed every time he told them. I especially enjoyed his tales of fighting along the Thai border alongside RCAF, he even had photos of himself dressed in surplus military uniforms posing with guns (which were taken by his friend while they were on a motorbike trip around the country), oh, and can't forget that he was the head instructor of HE's bodyguard unit It was loads of fun letting him spin his bullshit stories, pretending to believe him, but tripping him up on his own lies and watching him to try to backtrack.
The really sad thing about his bullshit though was the amount of people who genuinely believed him.
He was deported for overstaying, quite a few years worth of overstay in fact, he had been on the radar of police and Immigration for quite a while for various reasons. He was dead broke.

I suppose the cops can make a quick assessment on whether the guy is prone to further havoc and then restrain him or not. They gotta make due without a paddy wagon handy, I guess. One thing that's reassuring is that thirsty Aaron will now be provided with 3 delicious meals a day and will always get ice cold bottled water whenever he shouts, Gimme wah-der you racist bitches! Maybe he was at his wit's end from seven years of running from the network of agents that are out to persecute or kill him. Maybe he wanted to be jailed to be safe from them and can now apply for asylum from the United States of America.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 2:50 pmIt's normal.Marty9 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 2:11 pmFor you dudes that know a little about the functioning of Cambodian cops, is it common procedure to haul a perpetrator away on the back of a moto unrestrained? I mean this clown doesn't give any fucks about anything and could cause further mayhem and havoc to the cop hauling him away. I'd at least want him cuffed behind the back.

Certainly. Juvenile delinquents always make the best soldiers, from special forces to infantry to helicopter mechanics. During every war they empty out prisons and put them in the military. Without them, Nazi Germany would have won. Then when they are discharged, they go back into criminality. I would disagree with that. I once met a real ex-UN soldier in Thailand staying at a resort way up north in Banlung, with his wife, I think... He was from Denmark. He had served in the army of Denmark for some years and then gone to work for the UN in various hotspots. He didn't talk a lot about that but he was probably an officer before, because he was well-spoken and a gentleman, modest... He didn't seem like he wanted to talk very much about his war experiences... He had been to real danger zones in Africa...Marty9 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:41 amCertainly. So, I would not agree all military exes are crazy or low down... We have Kiwi, and he seems right-side up... I am not sure how you can assess a former soldier. One of my best buddies was an old American whom I met cycling in Lhasa, Tibet, in 1999, from the east coast; he's now dead, but he served in some form of intelligence unit during the war in Vietnam, taking recognizance photos from helicopters and writing reports... He was educated and later worked for CBS or NBC Sports and produced a couple of movies... So, there are all kinds of different people out there... Not all are living in fantasyland... ...

PSD-Wiki is an ex paintballer.
I also hear a lot of people say they’ve met ex special forces/mercs and they’ve done this, seen that but “don’t want to talk about it”.
Yeah, apart from when they do. Often.

Ex-soldiers are people, they come in all shapes and sizes. There's quite a number of combat veterans on hash house harriers about the World; hardly a 'knife-in-the-dark' group.
Not sure what any of this has to do with the thirsty American. Is he in Kampot provincial prison on pre-trial or the immigration lock-up in Sihanoukville?

Don't know where, but I brought up Mick and ex-militaries because, poor Aaron suffering from never-ending delusions is apparently an ex-military.
Maybe there are patterns to be discovered..? Why does Tom Cruise like to play superman soldiers? Are Hubbard's space aliens ex-militaries, which is their disguise? Or, maybe we have to look for a lizardman under Aaron's skin, perhaps proving the fate of the world depends on which species of space alien wins the secret war for Earth?
