Social control system just like China, in the make.

This looks like a first step towards a social control system, as is in place in China:
Government controlled QR everywhere.
Government controlled QR everywhere.

Kinda makes sense to join the dots of QR and Vaccine card.
But the QR location scanning seems futile to me. In more than a year of scanning I have always been green, and I know of no friends who have returned a red status. Seems to me that the system maybe doesn't work.
I'd estimate at least half of people entering shops don't bother with it now...
So, whilst this may be a decent idea, if the implementation of it is as careless as current, then it's pointless

Yeah, I also always scanned green.
Though the point is, this QR code is nothing more than "This person was here". Or so to say, the government is mandating a complete tracking system for all and everybody, disguised as a covid protection scheme. Unknown, how long it will stay in place, unknown, what is being done with the data. Don't forget, with this info, you can find out who meets who.

Not really.
Potentially could be used to identify people who enter a premises at similar times.
It can't tell if person A is still there when person B arrives.
It can't tell if those people met together, only that they we in a similar place at a similar time.
But, this doesn't really bother me. I'm not really worried that they think I'm a boring git with crappy friends.
With the qr-code they can't but you need to scan it with a smartphone. So simple celltower triangulation can show who is where based on IMEI. That data is also saved for x amount of time.
I have never scanned a code here as I carry no phone. Most of the times it's no problem. If it is, I take my money elsewhere.

12 months per MPTC mandatory data retention requirements iirc.Green Martian wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 1:41 pmSo simple celltower triangulation can show who is where based on IMEI. That data is also saved for x amount of time.
JFYI trilateration is used for determining the position of a cellular device, not triangulation.
The qr code connects with the restaurant (or whatever) identification, so a pretty accurate match with the location.
One match time/place with the another person, doesn't say anything. 5 consecutive matches says a lot. It is the big/persistent numbers that count.

For most people, it doesn't matter, for some, journalists for example, it does.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 11:51 amNot really.

Most of them Tweet or TokTok live where they are anyway.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Yep, but that is choice. When doing silent investigation, you don't want those you investigate, to know about that, where you are.
Yes. They are always watching. (Unless they are sleeping, squeezing spots or eating)
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Obviously, were the much maligned CPC "social credit system" what the western media portrays, none of the Chinese criminals operating in Chinookville and elsewhere in Cambodia (and Boten, Laos) would be there as they wouldn't be able to leave the PRC.
Even "foreign policy" questions the veracity of the narrative:

Much maligned. Do you mind sharing the benefits of it? I haven't heard of one but I am sure you know several, at least,
This should be good!
