Cambodia is on course to be the next Asian Tiger, and that is good news for America.

I think in most western countries you are unlikely to be burned at the stake for a trumped up charge of witchcraft and I am sure back then when they pleaded innocence there were those that would have made the snark comment that they wish they had a penny for every witch that pleaded innocent. sadly hun sen can do what he want with the courts and for some reason westerners support him but Ive met plenty of cambodians that do notYaTingPom wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 4:14 pmHow so?R2d3 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 12:48 pmFortunately people like myself took an alternate view and made the world a nicer place.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 7:48 pmIf I had a penny for every criminal who said they were innocent I'd be able to afford a Latte in Starbucks by now.R2d3 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 6:21 pmI personally am friends with Cambodians that are doing prison sentences for no reason.

But you support the mob killing of Vietnamese civilians? How is that any better than burning witches?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Right. Doesn’t answer my question.R2d3 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 11:44 amI think in most western countries you are unlikely to be burned at the stake for a trumped up charge of witchcraft and I am sure back then when they pleaded innocence there were those that would have made the snark comment that they wish they had a penny for every witch that pleaded innocent. sadly hun sen can do what he want with the courts and for some reason westerners support him but Ive met plenty of cambodians that do notYaTingPom wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 4:14 pmHow so?R2d3 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 12:48 pmFortunately people like myself took an alternate view and made the world a nicer place.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 7:48 pmIf I had a penny for every criminal who said they were innocent I'd be able to afford a Latte in Starbucks by now.R2d3 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 6:21 pmI personally am friends with Cambodians that are doing prison sentences for no reason.
How have you made the world a nicer place and how have you quantified that?

Yes, maybe inadvertently as you don't know much about Sam Rainsy's past actions?R2d3 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 9:43 amI support the mob killing of vietnamese civilians?

Maybe expats are oblivious to the increasing tensions between cambodia & the good ol usa.
The usa is accusing cambodian politicians of scamming the usa by inflating military bases expenditure to the criminal financial gain of at least 2 cambodian politicians.
China of course is stirring the shit up too.

How is that scamming the USA?
no I don't. I just think it's close to time that Cambodia became a democracy and Hun sen looks silly trying to pretend it is. Hes not going to be round too much longer anywayLucky Lucan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 3:03 pmYes, maybe inadvertently as you don't know much about Sam Rainsy's past actions?R2d3 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 9:43 amI support the mob killing of vietnamese civilians?

Or UK for that matter?
Sam is unlikely to have a sniff at leadership.
More likely is HM.

Can somebody please point out the democracies in SE Asia because I am not seeing any.

it's true that us democracy is rather flawed but they are working on it and are allowed to speak openly about that and it's leaders. Cambodia needs some fresh people. Plenty of people but no body wants to spend their life in jail for out staging he and his beautiful wife.chkai chgout wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 9:34 pmWhen will USA become a democracy?R2d3 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 12:26 amno I don't. Officially, most of the countries, though realistically, probably the closest is Singapore and there it stops.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 11:52 pmCan somebody please point out the democracies in SE Asia because I am not seeing any.
