Well it wasn't that one. Another over-easy on the ink punch monkey tells his Cambodian fight story.
British Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison has competed in different parts of the world in his long combat sports career and has had his share of crazy fight experiences.
But a pro boxing fight in Cambodia over a decade ago still has ‘The Hitman’ shaking his head to this date in disbelief over what transpired.
In a two-part video posted on Instagram, Liam Harrison narrated his insane experience when his team asked him to make a quick foray into pro boxing in Cambodia while he was training in Thailand.
He shared that the brief exploit of their team had a lot of twists and turns, including from their arrival, the weigh-ins, and the fight itself, where he was forced to settle for a decision win.
In the video, Liam Harrison highlighted how on fight day the referee seemingly did not want to give him a stoppage win, or a victory for that matter, over his Cambodian opponent in their six-round fight.
He shared:
“In Round 2, I dropped him with a left hook and he was out starfished, and I was running round the ring, jumping on the ropes, celebrating and stuff like that. That must have been 20 seconds running around and when I turned round and the ref was still counting, going ‘five, six,” that slow, and I think, ‘What’s going on here?’”
Harrison added:
“And eventually on eight he picked him up off the floor and stood him up. I dropped him again, and this time his nose was bleeding. So the ref picked him up back again, didn’t give him a count, took him over his corner, wiped his nose and then sent him back out again and then the bell went."I dropped him again in Round 4 and dropped him again in Round 6 and the ref just picked him up from the floor and didn’t want to stop the fight and I just thought, I am never ever going back there to fight again.”
