For Sale: XLR 250 Baja (Updated - Sold)
Hello all,
Have been the owner of this bike for a little over six months, no problem at all, runs like a charm. Changed the oil every 1500 kms, and had some work done on it at Dara's: New bearings, new chain, new rear brake disk, new air filter, new brake pads, new rear sprocket. Also installed new tires (Dunlop 604).
Haven't taken it off-road, but it performed perfectly on trips to Kep / Kampong Chhnang.
Bike is from 1997. Previous owner was British and maintained it very well. Kick only, but the automatic decompressor makes it really easy, and it usually starts on first kick. Plus, if you've ever found yourself stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere with a dead battery and no kick, you'll appreciate the simplicity of this bike =)
Selling it $800, bought it for $1700. Why so cheap? Lost the papers, needs a new paint job, and the electrical system needs a touch up (the headlights are dead but only require new wires and bulbs, not new parts).
Price is negotiable.
Some pictures:
Selling it because I bought a TDM850.
Hit me up via PM, [email protected] or an sms at 080201000.

sorry to rain on your parade, but that bike is not,and has never been,a 1997 model baja.
the 97 are all fitted with electric start, and mostly without a kick. the headlights are much bigger on the 97. the one in your pic has the standard exhaust pipe of the old kick start model. trust me,i have been riding bikes here for more than nine years, and i know the baja range, and can even tell you what year a baja is,from the colour of the tank. take it round to flying bikes and ask to see a 96 or onwards model baja, then you will see what i mean. btw,the 97 model baja has a 15 or 16 litre tank, and i am pretty positive that yours is 9ish litres.

Ok, little misunderstanding, but thanks for pointing it out.
Bajas are usually XRs with bigger tanks / larger headlights and slightly different gearing, if I'm not mistaken.
This is actually a '97 XLR with twin headlights and a 10L tank. Tony from TWO had a look and said it could be" XLR with old baja headlights but could be an old XR with add-ons".
As the previous owner said it was an XLR as well, I concluded he must have been right, but please feel free to correct us if you know the exact model.
I used "Baja" in the title to underline its style: tall, with twin headlights.
Regardless of all this, it's in excellent condition and a joy to ride.

New parts from Dara? i will suspend my disbelief for a second to ask if they are Honda parts (or from reputable manufacturer ) or Chinese copies?Khmerized wrote:had some work done on it at Dara's: New bearings, new chain, new rear brake disk, new air filter, new brake pads, new rear sprocket.
Did you respray black? if so how much did you pay to spray?

Hey, it's not like I installed a new suspension or anything more serious. Not sure about the break pads and air filter (which was 38$, by the way) but the rest are original parts.Meathead2 wrote:New parts from Dara? i will suspend my disbelief for a second to ask they are Honda parts (or from reputable supplier) or Chinese copies?Khmerized wrote:had some work done on it at Dara's: New bearings, new chain, new rear brake disk, new air filter, new brake pads, new rear sprocket.

Dara even pointed out I was using a non-Honda chain guard, so I think he took my instruction to "not use Chinese crap" quite seriously.
The bike was sprayed matte black just before I bought it, so no idea how much it cost. Looks wicked though.
I would like to take a look at it.
If I like it, I can give you 600 for it.

The bike is at Lucky! Lucky! One, feel free to send me an sms so that we can arrange a test drive. My phone is 080201000.
A 25% discount might be a little extreme though.

$800 is a good price. The bike looks in good nick, I don't like the 'suicide invisible black' colour, and obviously you'd have to ride it. I paid the same for a Baja three years ago and spent a bit on it, 3 years no major problems. Strong bikes.

I think so too. These engines are indestructible. A quick paint job + a skilled electrician and the bike is as good as new.vladimir wrote:$800 is a good price. The bike looks in good nick, I don't like the 'suicide invisible black' colour, and obviously you'd have to ride it.
