yeah gavinmac and seller, to answer your q's real quick.
I have receipts that show where the 10 grand investment has gone. labor, material, stock etc. Happy to show serious enquiries and buyers.
There are alot of business's that sell for reasons other than not making money, but i agree, it's worth being sceptical if someone is selling a profitable business, doesnt add up alot of the time.
Yeah it was pretty unclear when i wrote "I can only afford to leave it on the market for another few weeks."
by this i mean, there's job opportunities that i've applied for and now have the green light on, if im going to actually follow through and achieve these projects, i need to have the time to commit to them. Running a business is a full time job, even if you have staff and management. So I mean, if I'm still going to persue this other stuff (working in vis arts mostly) I can only afford a few weeks to make the decision. Need to work to get paid sucka.
So If i cant transfer the lease and get to work on other stuff within a fortnight, I'll more than happily keep on keeping on at Moi Tiet. I enjoy my work.
I hope that makes it a bit more transparent.
Also I don't know the individuals who are writing here seeing as we're all using pseudonyms, but sounds like I know a few of you and cheers for the kind words!
also, w/ questions like where did the 10 g go and where's the profit, if your a perspective buyer them pm or call me and you can see reciepts and books kept. if your not, then please post elsewhere.
cheers.

If the bar runs profitably as a business, why not hire a manager to run it in your absence rather than selling it below what you perceive to be fair value?
Because almost every bar owner in Cambodia will tell you that you can find a manager to run the place while you're gone that you can trust, or a manager you can afford, but rarely both.Capital_9 wrote:If the bar runs profitably as a business, why not hire a manager to run it in your absence rather than selling it below what you perceive to be fair value?
Does it follow then that bar owners either view themselves as cheap labor or do not trust themselves?General-Z wrote:Because almost every bar owner in Cambodia will tell you that you can find a manager to run the place while you're gone that you can trust, or a manager you can afford, but rarely both.Capital_9 wrote:If the bar runs profitably as a business, why not hire a manager to run it in your absence rather than selling it below what you perceive to be fair value?

What you're saying is that if you don't pay him, he'll pay himself.General-Z wrote:Because almost every bar owner in Cambodia will tell you that you can find a manager to run the place while you're gone that you can trust, or a manager you can afford, but rarely both.Capital_9 wrote:If the bar runs profitably as a business, why not hire a manager to run it in your absence rather than selling it below what you perceive to be fair value?
"I'll manage your bar" is one of the most insideous con tricks I have come accross both here and in Thailand. I have seen many bars, and one hotel fail because the owner has fallen for the con. Often a "fast talking f/barang" looking for some way to stay in country and support his drinking habit has persuaded the owner to let them manage their bar for what amounts to board, beer and lodgings. Result - disaster.
One safer option to consider is to lease the business at say $1000 a month or whatever and then it is up to the leasee to make the cash. If he fails you still (hopefully) get paid -and- you still have the business at the end.

Absolutely spot on.wackyjacky wrote: What you're saying is that if you don't pay him, he'll pay himself.

I was in Kampot over Khmer New Year and I saw this place. I remembered this thread so I snapped some pics. The doors were locked and chained, so I took a few pics through the glass front doors. Judge yourselves.
Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.
Okay, after seeing them pics I start to understand why some aren't quite sure where the $10k have been "invested".
