Some time ago a mate had some spare room in a shipping container and as I was planning to relocate to Cambodia at the time, I just filled up the container with random shit that I had lying about.
The container got delayed and was stuck in "No Mans Land" for quite a while.
Since then the Oz Dollar has crashed, so I'm still in Oz earning cash to support myself.
So I've got some stuff in the container that needs to be gotten rid of.
I had 5-6 boxes of Sci Fi & Fantasy books in the container - between 100-130 books at a guess, possibly more. Most of them are sets/series so there are 3-8 books belonging in each series.
If you are a fan of this type of writing, let me know as I'm looking for between $2 & $3 per book for the sets and $1 per book for the others. I cannot remember all the authors - but will get some pictures soon.
There is also a very good quality HP printer and and a large screen touch screen computer that belongs to another poster in the container that most likely will be up for sale as well.
These items are currently in Kampot, but I can easily get them bused to PP.
If interested, send me a pm for further details.
Thanks
Scoff.

Scoff, I wish you luck but books, DVDs and VHS tapes are no longer wanted.
I have never thrown a book away in my life. I had a collection of over 6,000 books. Look at EBay, no offers is the standard. Same on DVDs/VHS. I had a collection of over 1,000 DVDs and around 100 VHS tapes. All of these originals, many series and the VHS tapes all BBC originals.
Not a single interest in any of them. I took them to our local hospice for their shop. They took the books but no longer accept DVDs/VHS tapes. My Chinese Wuxia collection on DVDs cost over $3,000.
All of my DVDs/VHS (8 TB) transferred to hard drive and originals dumped at the council tip. All of my books replaced by e-books on my Kindle. One small tablet instead of nearly a ton in weight of books.
Good luck with the books.
Sleep, those little slices of death — how I loathe them.
Engrave that in stone: I agree with Grimey.
2 weeks ago I wanted to get rid of hundreds of dvds series in good condition, most with boxes. Plus a couple thousand bought over the years in Cambodia.
First attempt at 50c/piece, no replies. Then offered for free to family and friends. Nobody interested.
Then brought the lot by car (2 huge trunk loads) to a second hand book & dvd shop.
Even for free they wouldn't take them.
Worse than that, I wanted to drop a couple boxes near the trash bin at their door since it was a bloody nuisance to bring them back to the car.
Guy opened his window and shouted at me to piss off, if I let them there they'd have plenty of other boxes within the hour.
I drove around until i finally found a trash container with enough space for my boxes.
Books are even more difficult to get rid of.
Scoff, I'll take them off your hands for $1 piece that you pay me, if you can deliver.
I got rid of about 8 times this volume

DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes rely on obsolete machines so I'd agree with you on those. On books, not so much. Of course there is a whole lot of stuff printed that is throwaway but if you are into a specific subject there is no way you can find the same range of publications online. Also books are more likely to survive a nuclear war or similar cataclysm more than any puny electronics.TheGrimReaper wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 5:29 pmScoff, I wish you luck but books, DVDs and VHS tapes are no longer wanted.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Given the option I would rather read a book than use my kindle but travelling so much meant that I kept on buying books to read on the plane. After a while my carry on bag was full of books which is why I went over to kindle.
I was spending a fortune on books but now I just pay a small monthly fee to Amazon and read as much as I like for a fraction of the cost. (on top of the thousands of e books I have transferred from DVD collections available on flea bay).
So its my kindle for the whole collection.
What really pissed me off was my Wuxia DVD collection. I have them on hard drive but just looking at the DVD covers (many of them collector sets) makes me angry. I had to buy them as most are unavailable by download but you can't carry round boxes of DVDs.
Now the proud owner of over 8TBs of films and series on one portable hard drive (that's around 7,000 films and episodes)

For me, I find a book a very relaxing thing to read.
I can sit in a chair, find some place comfortable, have a beer or two on hand and spend several hrs enjoying the writing skills of an Author I like.
Most of the books I read are part of a series/set, each book consists of between 350 and 600 pages.
So when the opportunity arises I can spend an enjoyable several days in a chair, just relaxing and reading.

That's only because they all think your collection consists of sticky classics starring Peter North and Ron Jeremy.

I could talk for hours on Sci Fi and Sci Fan works. The bulk of my books were these.
Anyone wanting some real good reads would do well to look at the works of R. A. Salvatore. What is great about these is that in the Forgotten Realms ensemble, you also have books written by other authors and fan books. It took me a year or so, but I finally read through the entire (at the time) set. I have made it up to the year 2015 publications.
