Well guys, always nice reading your expert advice. Just for the record the 270 was for the W163 series, the 280 was the entry model for the W164 series with a 3-ltr 6-cylinder V6 engine and 190 HP, whereas the 320 had 220 HP or so. Otherwise identical.
Diesel is not a problem. As an AWD it's good on wet roads and cornering but not off-road, you would need the off-road package. All models can be upgraded with umpteen options at a steep price. I have owned MBs for 25 years so I just got me that one back then at a reasonable price. I now got a different make, but still German as I believe in their technology. Sure, Lexus are great cars but, one, too expensive as they are status cars, and second, who wants to drive a car that every Tom and Harry drives and my wife is a bit image-conscious too and likes German premium cars.
And last, I am taking it off the market for now as I managed to fix the stuck in P problem and am waiting for the sensor to arrive in 10 days at the MB dealership. It was actually cheaper there than in Europe with shipping etc. So it will be a good comfortable car with many years to run. People in Europe put 400,000 km and more on this engine without problems. Check out autoscout24.com. And just look at the used MB cars in the Middle East. They love them.

Good to know. Have only been a Merc fan for a decade or so me and have had two of the 270 5s which I actually preferred to the 320 6 I now I have. Didn't know there was a 280.rubberbaron wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 1:36 pmWell guys, always nice reading your expert advice. Still, Mercman and chum have 70 odd years' experience working with these things so to them I defer.

The Defender has arrived and I'm starting to see a few on the streets now. Except for the price tag, I like it a lot more than I thought I would.Petrol Head wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 5:23 amBtw, have you gents wrapped your head around the monstrosity that is the new Defender?
Formerly a agri-vehicle for Rupert Heathcote Drummond Willoughby to chase a few pheasants, now a chariot for Hong Cheng Feng Wang to chase a few bats, I suspect.

^ I would take that over an aging, base model ‘Bama built ML, to be fair.

That one I inadvisably took no expert counsel on. I believe the buyer loved it for a while but as he went up in the world also decided to buy Mercedes.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 4:55 pmWho do you defer to with regard to shit-box Celicas?RobW wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 6:03 pmGood to know. "We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
We are probably discussing the two worst cars either of these companies ever made.Playboy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 2:26 pmThe RedHeadedStepChild of the Toyota familyslavedog wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:56 pmToyota Celica - the car no hairdresser should be without.RobW wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:00 pmThat one I inadvisably took no expert counsel on. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Nah, another one. The extremely manly GTS. Sold it years ago. I quite liked it.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 3:10 pmYou bought BubbleT's Celica?
