For everybody's information I'm a 75yo 100% disabled Vietnam vet. As for the "NGO" comment I live in BKK1 because up until 8 months ago I lived at the Lux on 136 until some Cambodian wanker moved in behind my apt that had a big dog that he let run freely in and out of his 6th floor apt onto his balcony that barked incessantly at all hours. I put up with it for 2-3 months until it forced me out. I found a 2 bedroom place in BKK that's the same price but bigger as the 1 bedroom Lux one. Between my Veterans disability and my US social security I have a good income for over here,
not so much for the US .
My first encounter with this particular part of Asia was being in the Brown Water Navy just across the Mekong border at Tan Chau/Chau Doc area in the 1st 4 months of '67 and then Can Tho & Ben Tre until I DEROSED in '68. Prior to that I spent '64-66 on a destroyer (DESRON 3) in the Tonkin and was home ported in Yokosuka Japan and did just about every dirty job that the Navy can assign to a tin can including guarding the entrance to DaNang harbor during the 3rd MEB landings 3/8/65. So nope, I'm not a "newbie". I very seldom go back to the US and when I do it's for a Vets hospital checkup and only for 30 days because like many others here I loathe the place.
Does that clear everything up? BTW, got a deposit on the fridge and he's supposed to pick up tomorrow but until that occurs I'll keep running the ad. Thanks to all for your inputs.

Lucky, the pix you've posted looks like something I'd have just left behind for housekeeping or set out on the sidewalk for a giveaway. How effing tacky! Even if you throw it in the bin one of the trash rummagers would seize it.

I'm sure it's not just you, but I'm sure you are wrong.spitthedog wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 5:43 pmIs it just me, or is it mostly comfortable NGO's who sell their unwanted stuff in Cambodia, whereas the relative peasantry just give it away?
At the risk of being the perennial NGO defender (yes, Iknow there are some crappy ones). How the hell would one know from a Facebook ad selling stuff that they an NGO type???
The NGO types I know are mostly bleeding hearts people who, when leaving, extravagantly give away the contents of their houses to their staff because 'they are my Khmer family'.
This of course brings issues in itself... But my goodness there are some ignoramus' on here bashing NGO types for no good reason. They aren't perfect, so if you are doing to criticize, then at least do it intelligently

On topic of people selling/giving away things. There is a FB page called Phnom Penh minimalist and Freecycle. You should see the shit that folks post to give away. It's like a free garbage collection service.
There is currently a post up with someone giving away small lengths of string. Normally even the crappiest stuff is snapped up in minutes. 20 mins later there is no takers for the string. Who would have thought it?

^ At least you scrubbed my name, but that is a statement art installation, you fucking philistine.
The reason it went so quickly is that the cognoscenti, many of whom are my instagram followers, recognised it as such.
Look again. What does it tell you? Can't you see the suffering of the people under the Khmumai Rouge and the slaves who died at Angkor?
