Anyone hear of any Cambodian schools using online teachers who are not physically in Cambodia?
How about less distant teachers, teaching at a school in one province or city, while living in a different province or city?
That's teachers. What about Admin. Management. While all in-class learning is shut down, how much does it matter where the school manager is?
Distant teachers for online schools?
Not in Cambodia, but in Thailand/Burma:

Interesting opportunity.

Thanks for the reply.
Interesting opportunity, but past tense, as now closed to new applicants. Did you apply?
Here in Cambodia, we don't know how long in-classroom education will be shutdown due to Covid precautions, it could well be until October, who knows, but I think Myanmar politics make it likely they will be closed much longer than Cambodia.
Iv'e heard of the Myanmar school, and the sister school in Thailand. Who are likely to make up the student body this coming year in Myanmar? Kids of 'normal' rich business folk, or mostly children of the politically well connected.? (Not that I have anything against their kids per se, they are kids, but it might feel marginally less satisfying,)

From what I hear most of the teachers here are pretty distant.. almost to the point of not giving a fuck.
That probably stems from so many not being qualified and even fewer getting paid a decent wage on time...

Yes, "many not being qualified" is why I wanted to know if schools were already hiring teachers IN other countries. If not, it will happen. This can be win:win.
The better in-name-only "international schools" can hire a few out of country, qualified, professional teachers, and use them to apply to start a respected accreditation process. For 90% of their bread and butter students, this is a marketing ploy only, the school knows most students will NEVER join this small, expensive, money losing program.
Less qualified locally hired expat 'tutors' carry much weight in both programs, cheap and expensive. Even though fees are half ISPP or Northbridge, the couple of grades seeking accreditation in the high end program- whether high grades or low- never lose too much $$, and the great, qualified, online teachers can make, say, $30-40/hr. An OK 10 hours/week supplement to their real job, or to tide them through maternity leave. The local expats make whatever they always have.
If marketing this way is a bit dishonest to General program parents, why is it win:win? Well:
it is less dishonest than has happened for years;
The few accredited program students do get an actual "International" High School certificate;
The local tutors can learn from the pros, improving education levels for all.
(Or, ??? 2022-23, when Covid's impact has faded, heaps of Aussie teachers will move here, (Kampot and Battambang 'cause they are still Cambodia) and teach part-time in-person classes for slightly more than the shitty going rates, meanwhile getting more $$ for online tutoring of Australians, Malaysians, and Chinese).
In any case the Education business has been right stirred up. Online won't take over, good classroom experience IS special, but surely it isn't going away either.
(P.S. If you read this whole post you have earned 2 credits. Good on ya!)
