Job Situation Phnom Penh
If you’re start looking around it looks promising, but it isn’t...
SITC
The Headmaster is an arrogant slob (“We don’t hire Swiss English Teachers…”), and give me a break: punch cards, pink shirts, fines for everything, students are spoiled brats, the books are all copies, and you’ve to stick to their ridiculous rules, otherwise… the wage is a joke, however there are a lot of druggies/backpackers around, so they don’t care…
ACE
Requirement: Degree, CELTA… How much you’re paying buddy? $8/10/12 – are you joking?
NWI
Sorry I won’t work for them…not for any amount of money…
Schools/”International Universities” under Khmer management

I agree with you in full. Plus they’ve very often videos and microphones in classrooms installed; they’re paying your peanuts ($ eight), you always having trouble getting your money, and sometimes they’re charging teachers for the classroom books. I still remember that at one school the Khmer Boss said to me that the school and Cambodia are very poor – and few seconds later he was driving off in his brand new LEXUS! Outrageous!!! Sometimes I believe that Khmers think we Westerners are all Idiots! Many students are unruly, and complain all the time in those schools!
In short: to teach beginners, pre-intermediate, intermediate you don’t need a degree or a TEFL. If you’re highly qualified, why teach here for next to nothing? Many schools are time wasters, they just want to look. If you don’t believe me, just go around and visit one of these “International Institutes” – they’re a joke. Additionally, there is really nothing to do in this city - it’s a rat hole. No recreation parks and you’re get hassled all the time.
I taught in many countries in Asia, but Cambodia is definitely the worst.

It seems to me you’re a racist. Do you have personals problems or high blood pressure?By the way, how do you make a Swiss Roll?
Rip his head off…
Ah Switzerland ... Did you know?
1. It’s one of the Nations with the highest Income in the World
2. The unemployment benefit in Switzerland is higher than the average income in the USA
3. It’s one of the most tolerant countries in the world: You may smoke “dope” without be prosecuted and “Heroin” is free.
4. Prostitution is legal
5. Every Swiss man has a gun at home (I have three!)
6. It’s the most sophisticated country in the world
7. It has one of the lowest crime rates in the world
8. Five languages are spoken in Switzerland: German, French, Italian, Rhaeto-Romanic
9. It is very difficult if not impossible to emigrate to Switzerland (now I know why you’re angry)
10. The Swiss Passport is the best passport in the world.
11. I am VERY PROUD TO BE A SWISS - I won’t change my Nationality for any amount of money
Sorry my friend, you’re underprivileged, you can’t punch me!
Switzerland is indeed a great country, except for the prevailing tendency of their people to be arrogant. To be proud is excusable, cocky annoying, but the level of arrogance present in many of the Swiss people I've met is all but intolerable.
Sweden is every bit as cool, and the Swedes are down to earth and humble about their overwhelming sweetness.

Thailand/Bangkok
The winner: THAILAND!!!
If you speak Thai fluently you will have plenty of Thai girls to choose from, but if you speak only three words of Thai and you insist on only “shagging” them, then of course you have to use bargirls! And the normal girls don’t do it for the money – I know what I talk about, I lived 12 years permanently over there…

Yes, Switzerland is great.
You lived in Thailand for 12 years and you are now teaching stupid Khmers for $8 an hour?
Why?
You could not get a job cleaning toilets in Switzerland or are Swiss prostitutes too expensive or both?
If Bangkok and Thailand are better, why come to Phnom Penh?
Too much competition both at work and in the "nice" Thai girl department?
P.S. It's " I know what I am talking about", not I know what I talk about
and "I lived there for 12 years", not I lived 12 years permanently over there…
I won't bother with the grammar and the logic (e.g. no. 2) for Switzerland.
Maybe the Head Teacher at SITC is not a snob, just a normal human being. He can tolerate the English, not the attitude.

I couldn't agree with Baggy more. If it is so bad, why don't you just fuck off?stupid dog wrote: Additionally, there is really nothing to do in this city - it’s a rat hole. No recreation parks and you’re get hassled all the time.

You have a problem writing English, so you would most definitely have a problem teaching it. Dont fret though, I saw a post in the jobs section asking for non-native English speaking teachers. They are setting low standards, so there is hope for you yet.
I am actually half Swiss myself. I also have a Swiss passport.
I agree with Knappster. Swiss people tend to be annoying, arrogant twats.
From your attitude I guessing that you are come from the Swiss-German side of Switzerland. Those people tend to be the most difficult to get along with. Its not racism. It's just a fact. The people from the French side of Switzerland are generally loving, kind and warm.
So you encourage apathy, That's excellent!Ah Switzerland ... Did you know?
2. The unemployment benefit in Switzerland is higher than the average income in the USA
Yet most of your posts here have shown to be completely intolerant. Is that why you left your home country?3. It’s one of the most tolerant countries in the world
And you think free heroin is a good thing? You really are stupid. You may smoke “dope” without be prosecuted and “Heroin” is free.
By the way, whats with the use of the speech marks on the words 'heroin' and 'dope'. Do you really mean 'hamburgers' and 'french fries'?
4. Prostitution is legal
Sadly, this rates as one of your most important 4 things in life, after free and legal drug use. But as horlavy pointed out, maybe they are just too expensive for you.
Again, why is this a good thing? It just makes you worse than an American. I'm also confused, with so many guns in your house, why didn't your mother shoot you?5. Every Swiss man has a gun at home (I have three!)
And I still don't understand what you're trying to say.8. Five languages are spoken in Switzerland: German, French, Italian, Rhaeto-Romanic
I still havent used mine.10. The Swiss Passport is the best passport in the world.
I bet your countrymen wished you weren't Swiss. You're a very bad ambassador for your country.11. I am VERY PROUD TO BE A SWISS - I won’t change my Nationality for any amount of money
I'll give you one thing though, you have a really apt avatar. You are stupid.

"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Ok, i know i spend a lot of time on this site sticking up for people who carry guns everywhere, but seriously, high rates of gun ownership and "sophistication" really shouldn't go together as consecutive points. ass.Stupid Dick wrote:5. Every Swiss man has a gun at home (I have three!)

…killing time my friend, I never ever had to work in my life. You lived in Thailand for 12 years and you are now teaching stupid Khmers for $8 an hour?
Why?
..again, I have a lot of property in Switzerland I don’t have to work. I am just having fun and looking for stunning girls…You could not get a job cleaning toilets in Switzerland or are Swiss prostitutes too expensive or both?
…that’s why I am going back to Thailand; I prefer an extravagant lifestyle – beautiful girls, champagne and so on…If Bangkok and Thailand are better, why come to Phnom Penh?
… Hi mister 150 percent: if you find a grammar mistake: you can kept it – its freeI won't bother with the grammar and the logic
… sorry to disappoint you, but somebody told him that I don’t have to work for money, he is just jealous, he is just a little piece of sh.. In my opinion, I don’t need anybody and I don’t care what this lazy bone thinks about meMaybe the Head Teacher at SITC is not a snob, just a normal human being.
… the system has to chance, not meIf it is so bad, why don't you just fuck off?
…again, I don’t have a problem with anything. You shouldn’t correct others, so you can be a good teacher as me, believe me boyYou have a problem writing English, so you would most definitely have a problem teaching it.
…half Swiss is nothing, you must be 100% Swiss to be able to talk to meIam actually half Swiss myself
I have the money and you have to dance – it’s as easy as that boySwiss people tend to be annoying, arrogant twats.
…again you have a problem to accept that the SWISS are the crème de la crème – we are the best in the world – just accept that and everything will be fine. I don’t care if you like it. It’s a fact! From your attitude I guessing that you are come from the Swiss-German side of Switzerland. Those people tend to be the most difficult to get along with.
I stay sometimes in Switzerland and sometimes somewhere else, I never leave my home countryIs that why you left your home country?
No, you are stupid. If you supply free heroin to addicts that’s a good thing, otherwise they would be robbing banks. And you think free heroin is a good thing? You really are stupid.
Here again, you jealous boy, aren’t you. Accept the fact that there are leaders and losers. You are the looser!I bet your countrymen wished you weren't Swiss. You're a very bad ambassador for your country.
