University teacher average salary
University teacher average salary
Hello.
I would like to know how much is a university teacher salary in Phnom Penh.
I'm not interested only in English teachers but any other subjects like Physics, Economics, Computer Science, ...
What would be the salary range both in public and private universities.
Thank you.

Hello Vladimir.
Let's say a teacher with a master degree and 10 years experience how much per month he can get in a university in Cambodia.
Are the salaries similar in the public and private universities?
Thanks.

Master's I think $15 - 20
As far as I know, there are no state universities, all private.
Try University of Cambodia, Limkokwing, Pannasastra (academic programme) IFL, Royal University of Law and Economics, Zaman etc.

That's accurate, as I've been down this road. The other thing worth noting that, even with a master's in X subject, you'll likely only get to teach one-two 3-hour courses per term. That is to say, you will be paid for 3-6 hours per week, which is not enough to live on. You will need additional income somewhere.vladimir wrote:Master's I think $15 - 20

There are quite a few state universities, Royal University of Phnom Penh, National University of Management, Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Royal University of Law and Economics, Royal University of Agriculture etc...vladimir wrote:

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Any updates regarding this topic in 2022? What are the average salaries for expat lecturers (with Masters) at Phnom Penh universities nowadays? Have they been adjusted for inflation since 2014 yet? (PP is definitely more expensive than 8 years ago). Interested in both full-time and part-time salaries.
I worked at a university in Phnom Penh for one year (2015-2016 academic year). My 10 month contract paid me a salary of $4,000 (USD) per monrh, plus an additional $650 per month for housing. There was also excellent health insurance provided and a pension plan (with monthly employer contributions). I taught 9 hours per week, although my contract called for up to 12 hours per week.

I’m surprised by these numbers. Many university courses cost only $650 - 800 per year - would need class size of 150 students just to cover the cost of 2 teachers at this level. I’m guessing the fees at your university were a little more expensive.wolfcreek wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 9:53 amI worked at a university in Phnom Penh for one year (2015-2016 academic year). CamEd, which is highly rated, costs about $10,000 a year for tuition. Raffles,, which is more of a college and only gives diplomas, is around the same price.

Isn’t that the lower end universities, BBU (that every man and his dog seems to have gone to) and the like?ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 11:14 amI’m surprised by these numbers. That's a pretty good salary considering the additional for housing, the little number of hours you had to teach per week and the other benefits.wolfcreek wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 9:53 amI worked at a university in Phnom Penh for one year (2015-2016 academic year). Can you share what university that was? The universities I know in PP come nowhere near that. Unless you have like 3 PhDs... do you?
