Over 50s banned from teaching
What would happen if someone over 50 wanted to go back to high school just like in one of those comedy films?
Adam Sandler is in his 50s now, so it could happen.

Is there a different document to the one copied twice on this thread? The one printed here, as I understand it, merely suggests that over 50's and other fragile people teach online. It doesn't seem to stop older teachers from teaching if they wish to.
I'm asking if 'No in-person teaching if over 50' is a hard MOEYS rule, or merely more of a guideline?

Now that some schools open, and virtually all soon to open, Is this "no teachers over 50 ban" being enforced? Who is enforcing it only the school, or have the gov come in and checked? Any examples showing that it is, or isn't?

I think any non English native speakers should be banned from teaching English.
Listening to the douche over the road teach a couple of local kids is painful to listen.
“Dees is an ooos. Cheldran leave een thees ooos. Eeet az toooo [real emphasis on two for some resson] weendows and toooo doos”
Honestly it like listening to the British airmen in ‘Ello ‘Ello.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
Many Khmer students, and perhaps even more so their parents, agree with YaTingPom, they prefer white skinned English teachers from a small set of Western Countries (not in any particular order?): Australia, USA, Canada, UK (or rather England), New Zealand. So, OK, there is that.
However, what they need, are outstanding teachers. White, attractive, from one of those countries, swell, but that alone does not a good teacher make. Yoda, for example, was hundreds of years old, short and ugly, but he knew 'Use the Force Ninja' course content front to back, and his odd quirky speech helped students remember. I won't say, 'No,' to the odd Barbie doll with merely moderate skills (regardless of gender), but I'll take an excellent teacher first, (almost) regardless of age, attractiveness, or origin of accent. I won't say there are no downsides to 70-80 year old teachers, or strong accents from, say, Ireland, Singapore, or S. Africa, but if they truly have the skills, they get a job.
Moreover, though many students/parents here ARE prejudiced, they aren't stupid. In a short time, great teachers win with them too: students ask to have them again.
The pandemic really F%$#@'d over education worldwide. Now is the time to put the best teachers in the classroom, Khmer, Filipino, even old Scottsmen, IF they are great, give them hours.
Fully vaxed older teachers who happily accept the Covid risk should be allowed to practice their art. That is good for them, for the school, for the students, the country and the planet. Period.

afaik, the 50 age limit only reflects the voluntary age limit for retirement of Khmer teachers in the Khmer Education system.

My friend who works in public school system are preparing their school for reopening and they have 3 teachers there who are over 50. They do not yet know what is happening and if they can return or not. Her school is due to reopen on Monday (I think).
afaik the 50 year old thing is merely the retirement age for Khmer teachers in state schools
That being said, can you teach at at a proper school in Cambodia at 51, 55 or even 65?
I'm known to be over 50, and yet recently received an email from a well known school seeking teachers. The application requires Date of Birth, but the advertisement includes no mention of age. Will schools stop hiring teachers over 50?
Will there soon be a surplus of over-50 expat English teachers seeking work?
If you are over 50, fully vaxed, and a great teacher, don't despair, I'll hire you!
The vaccination rule won't disappear soon, if ever (enforcement may wane by mid-late 2022, but MoEYS will never take it off the books), but it is hard to imagine the Over-50-Ban to persist much into the new year.
(It seems many Departments of Education ARE calling it a ban, while a minority(?) are labeling it merely a guideline.)
