Over 50s banned from teaching
Over 50s banned from teaching
I've seen a draft document.
It's looking like over 50 year old teachers will not be allowed to work on-site.
UPDATE: The Ministry of Education issued a statement on August 31 banning teachers aged 50 and above from in-person teaching.

Is that a joke? If so how will that affect local teachers, many of them are getting on a bit? Also read that no new civil service jobs are opening for next year which I think includes teachers.
Rama, Please tell us more about the viewed draft document. MoEYS or POE, or school level document?
Anything requiring full vaccination of all teachers? All students? All staff (guards, cleaners, backroom admin, etc?)
No school workers over 50 would, present challenges to schools and the system. I'd guess the average age for school principles is 46, with many over 50. If all fully vaccinated, it seems unnecessary. (But the last 20 months or so have proved anything is possible.)
(Why not extend the over 50 rule to all jobs. No over-50 Bar owners allowed on-site, etc.)

This is a copy and paste of the relevant section:
"•Educational staff over the age of 50 OR with pre-existing conditions such as high blood
pressure, diabetes or overweight shall not be allowed to resume work or teach in physical
schools despite having received COVID-19 vaccine.
...
•Students who come to study in educational institutions (after reopening of educational
institutions) should avoid contact with parents, grandparents or people living in the same
home who are over 50 years of age or who have pre-existing conditions."

Unsurprisingly, these seem to be ill thought out, difficult to enforce and likely to be ignored.Rama wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 4:31 pmThis is a copy and paste of the relevant section:

If this report is true it’s huge for the tefler community. I’m struggling to think of any of the 440 tefler community who won’t be affected: vlad, Springrain, Horace will all not be able to work.

Yes, Horace, who's literally been cycling around the world for the last three years, will be very much upset and affected by this.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 8:46 pmIf this report is true it’s huge for the tefler community. He’s been back in Phnom Penh for at least two months, and he literally described himself as “an out of work tefler” on this very forum recently.
Huh? With many extended families, that would affect pretty much every student.
But, what about posting the original document?

Maybe a rhetorical question but what is the thinking behind this?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
They don't need your stinking thinkng.
They are the Competent Authorities

Why ban only over 50s and not people with pre existing health conditions.
They changed their draft. Only over 50s is the rule
