Ok. So yesterday I arrived in PP from Laos. The usual tuk tuk drivers were waiting outside the airport with one offering me a "free" lift on condition that I stay at the King Hotel on st110. When I arrived at said guest house i checked out the overpriced room ($20) but seeing I had avoided paying the driver $7 i thought it to be a good deal. One of the hotels employees took me to my room and noticed that it did not have towels. I had my own so i told him it would be no problem. I went downstairs, I ate, and then returned to my room to have a shower, half way through my weekly cleasning the same employee let himself into my room with a seperate key saying that he had heard me having a shower and wanted give me a towel. I told him politley to rack off.
Afterwards I left the hotel to meet with a fellow forum member to discuss share accomodation. We had a few beers and I returned sometime aftermidnight to find the hotel shut. I asked the same employee as before to grab a key for me. He said we would open my room for me. On the way up to my room he asked "I know you are straight guy but I have money (opening his wallet to show a couple hundred, probably fake, dollars), will you go with me" I laughed and said no, continuing up the stairs. When I realised he wasn't following me I turned around to see him cock in hand furiously jacking himself in the stairwell. This was the breaking point and I said:
-'DUDE PUT THAT AWAY AND JUST OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR"
"No, not until you show some body!"
For some reasons those words must have done it for him as he came all over the wall before fucking off down the stairs. I then had to get the security guard to open my room, where I lay sleepless waiting for exibitionist to come breaking down my door in a gimp suit. Checked out this morning, guy was no where to be seen, and moved to the cheaper, way better Lyon D'or which is staffed by women who can diddle themselves in front of me till the cows come home.

I'll be looking to stay there next time I'm in country. Was at the OK, too much KSR backpacker traffic. Hung out mostly at Happy. Great gal managing it, good food too, very relaxed place. Only problem is, not many rooms so probably often full. There is a nice little place with a good size courtyard w/pooltable just down the street and around the corner run by a nice French guy and his Khmer wife, clean and good prices. That might be my back up. Area is near the basically on the river but down and away from the action, tho it's just a 15 min. walk to it. Definately for not for those who don't like to laugh at kids in dreads carrying a sitar in a velvet sack slung over their back.fritspaap wrote:11# happy guesthouse
Great place to stay, got 2 locations, one at the lakeside st.93 and one at street 258 (?) opposite of OK guesthouse,
Super friendly staff, lots of backpackers and younger tourists. runned for over 10+ years by cambodian family
Apparently they re construction a new one somewhere close to riverside with 40+ rooms and a HUGE restaurant/bar on the roof with Jacuzzi's and great hangout place. elevator included.
And their rooms are from 5 - 20 $ if im right.
Definitely best place to stay in town for the younger people.

You can't be serious!
I have been there many times to eat an swim, but to stay-never.
It is run by French-black mark already.
It is like an old kiwi or Aussie camping ground from the sixties.Wooden bungalows, painted green in a very poor state of repair.
In fact everything is in a very poor state of repair, the tennis court is fucked, the pool is ancient and the tile surround is cracked, the tiles are as slippery as ice as well.
It is right on the widened highway one and very noisy and dusty.
Poor guests arrive at the airport and don't realize that they are staying so far from phnom penh-read trip advisor and see the comments.
