Think of it as a small annual "expatriate's tax", the value of which is never having to justify to anyone, least of all the Ministry of Immigration, your suitability (or otherwise) for continued residence in the Kingdom, in perpetuity.Hans3 wrote:Sorry if you feel that I came across as rude, I just have to get used to the fact that there is the price and then their price
Cambodia Visas
There have been changes to the extension of stay options for the E-type (Ordinary) visa, there are now 6 different options available. I have not come across any official announcements on these from the Immigration department or MoFAIC yet though, nor details of requirements and costs.
You still apply for the E-type visa on arrival, but when you extend you choose one of the 6 extension of stay options that is relevant to your circumstances .

My travel agent told me that next time I extend my visa I can choose between a business one or the new retiree one. No documentation required for either one.
They did say that documents would be required in a couple of years time. I guess when the 'competent authorities' have figured out a realistic workable system.

From FB...
Recently renewed my one year visa it would appear from what was on the visa and what the agent told me when I asked the visas are getting categorised EB for business, ER for retirees, ES for students and there was one other cant remember now. Not sure how valid this all is ?
The agent did mention that if you were asked by the relevant authorities I assume she meant the immigration that you would be expected to show the correct paperwork that related to the category of visa you had she went on to qualify that if you were on a retirement visa for example you would be expected to show proof of income from your own country. I would guess that a foundation is getting laid for a more rigorous granting of visas system and in time it will be a pre requisite for you to supply more comprehensive paperwork prior to the visa being issued perhaps ? At the moment it would appear if it is done through an agent it is fairly easy as opposed to the hurdles you may find trying to do it yourself without the correct contacts ?

Still working out those tedious little details.
The good part is the "possible to extend forever" part on some of the classifications. I don't remember the "E" visa stating this although it has been the case since I've been in and out of Cambodia. However it turns out... it's still one of the easiest countries to live in visa wise.

Still no spousal/marriage/family visa category yet though which is shit, plenty of Foreigners married to and/or have children with Cambodian citizens.

I just found out that with the new visa overstay ($10 per day), if you are more than 30 days over, you must leave the country... no paying the fine and renewing the visa. I am trying to find out if there is a minimum amount of days before renewal, i.e. are border runs still possible or do you have to stay out for 30 days... or more? When I get the answer I will share it, but if someone already knows, can you please post? Thank goodness my visa is current and this is for a friend of mine.
Interesting to hear that they appear to be enforcing this, it was announced by the MoFAIC at the start of Aug. Please report back with any updates.LadyMariam wrote:I just found out that with the new visa overstay ($10 per day), if you are more than 30 days over, you must leave the country... no paying the fine and renewing the visa. Sorry had a quick search of both k440 and googling the same, but can't find info on a British/Khmer sprog with both British + Khmer passports. Seem to recall there being a need for a particular visa type when exiting Cambodia for the first time; any search experts can link the right advice, or anyone willing to confirm the correct process?

if u entered on the Brit passport, u need leave on it
got to a land border exit and turn around and come back in on Khmer passport
OF course if BOTH passports were new and issued in Cambodia and have no entry stamps,
IF the kid is flying to the uk show the British & Cambodian passport at check in
at immigration just show the Khmer one

If you want to exit on the foreign passport then an exit visa will be required, you get this from the Immigration department opposite Pochentong, takes up to 2 days to be issued and it is only valid for 7days from date of issue, supposed to be gratis.Spigzy wrote:Sorry had a quick search of both k440 and googling the same, but can't find info on a British/Khmer sprog with both British + Khmer passports. On return, the child will be eligible for a K-Type visa in their foreign passport, just tick the appropriate box on the VOA application form and show proof of the kid having at least one Cambodian parent (birt cert, passport), this visa is also gratis.
Or, the kid could just depart and enter Cambodia on their Cambodian passport, and enter/depart other countries on their foreign passport.

Thanks, much appreciated!
