Mike's Burger House, Garage, Alley Cat & Le Dolce Vita all do a fine burger. Lonestar makes a tasty one but they are too big for a whippet like myself.
I prefer mine (I suppose I should) but am not going to nominate my own place.

Freebird do a pretty good burger. Unfortunately, as much as I love the place, it's probably the only thing there that I would eat.

i think it depends on whether you are from the States, UK, or Australia/NZ (or other)... different tastes. Also depends on state of drunkeness... I still think a burger from outside Howie's in the middle of the early hours is the best taste on earth

The burger place halfway between phnom penh and sihanoukville. It's the last place on the left if coming from snooky and vise versa. Swedish guy from the hippi owns it, best burger sauce I've ever had. They also have happy cookies for afters...

Best selection of burgers with all the fixings Alley Cat. I have been a irregular regular on Thursdays for their Fat Cat specials: double the meat and fixings or free chili cheese fries for several years. And they offer the biggest burger burger in town with their signature Quadruple Bypass. Off street 19 behind the National Museum.
Steve's Steak House on St 51 consistently has the best meat . Been enjoying their classic hamburgers and cheese burgers for over a decade. One secret go in the evening and ask that they flame cook the burger on the steak grill. Still under five bucks for a big burger, drink and fries. Last night I had a grilled burger with a side of grilled potato slices, yum.
The Walkabout used to serve a nice sized burger with lots of salad I used to get one on joker nights in the old days; I stopped going several years ago, but still remember those tall burgers.
I have been sadly disappointed with the consistency, quantity, and quality of too many of the newer places. I hear about a new place or a friend shows me his new find. Sometimes they start off looking good but on a repeat visit fail. I have been served: off meat, raw meat, two frozen burgers stuck together to make a large burger, stale buns, untoasted buns, nine French fries as a side, el cheapo ketchup, off mayo, and all manners of screw-ups.
IMHO, consistency is the most important quality of a good restaurant. There are several local restaurants where I order the same entree on each visit. I like to get what I expect. Too many places fail when the owner or regular cook is gone, or when they try to substitute missing ingredients or cut costs.
I would have mentioned Freebird as they have a great menu, tasty food, and decent burgers, but IMO their portions are too small for the price; eating there I am often left wanting.
The old California II had some bargain burgers, can not say anything about the new reincarnation as I have not made it by yet.

I just love chilly cheese burger. But most of time I enjoy my burger by home made. We put more and more veggies in it as per our choice. We are crazy for burger with cheese and zukeney.
Mike's is really good. The best I have had here.
They do In & Out style burgers with great patties and lots of options including the double double and the volcano which nearly gave me a heart attack.
At lunchtimes most of the tables get taken by those pesky Mormons who have a massive church next door.

Some people are easily pleased. Wouldn't eat one if you were paying.
