Yes. I pay 1$ instead of 25€ back in France for the same job.

Yep. I went to a place near 136 and they did a decent job AND they didn't speak English. I felt very lucky.
On topic I once went to a two pole place in Seoul and got...told to leave. Not for whiteys sadly.

A camp Filipino did a swell job once in SR, and I got butchered to heck once along Rue de Pasteur; his interpretation of "a small bit off" was a fair bit different to mine. At least I didn't have to have it cut for another six weeks.
OP - Have you had a bad experience then or were you offered 'extras'?

Yeah lovely girls in the khmers barbers, terrific uniforms too.
Nowadays i go to a place on 130 where I get a good shave for a dollar, still get my hair cut at the sunway in the basement for $5.

Sounds okay. My barber near Phsar Thmey does an excellent job (although all my friends opinions would differ), and I've not seen any happy endings going on. All the haircutters for men are Vietnamese men for some reason, don't know why the Khmer can't master this obviously difficult art, but that's just the way it is. And I LOVE the ear cleaning, can't think of a better substitute for the afternoon kip.keeping_it_riel wrote:http://khmer440.com/k/2008/08/the-best- ... hnom-penh/

Perhaps this is why monks shave their heads.
Better than paying some other guy $1 to mess it up so you have to do it anyway.

Does anyone know where to get a hot towel open blade shave ?
All the 'Hairdressers' in Saigon have Sexual Services available from the teams of lovely maidens in matching Daily Themed costumes !! Awesome!
Many of the "barbers" in China had a mirror and a pair of scissors sitting out the front. The cops shut them all down anyway.
Is there a 'little India' in Phnom Penh? God damn those Indians know how to shave.lebowski wrote:Does anyone know where to get a hot towel open blade shave ?
After the experiences I've had here and in Vietnam, I wouldn't let a south east asian anywhere near my face with a blade.
Does any barber in Phnom Penh own a decent pair of clippers? Or is there somewhere I can buy a set?
I've had good straight razor shaves both here and in Saigon. They use electric clippers if they're good. Manual clippers if they're al cheapo.epidemiks wrote:Is there a 'little India' in Phnom Penh? I have never been very keen on going to the hairdressers, but the time had come and I had to go for a trim. I went in and asked for a basic cut and got taken to a back room by a pretty young girl ( I was unsure at this point, a similar scenario in Indonesia made me cautious), she proceeded to wash my hair and give me a full head and face massage and ear cleaning. I'm not in to that sort of thing but had nothing better to do so went with it, it was really relaxing and she did a good job on my hair! my dislike for hairdressers has somewhat diminished since then.barforsalecambodia wrote:I've had good and bad experiences as far as getting my hair cut goes. Never more than $2 though, so I don't expect much.
I've heard quite a bit about 'extras' that other people have gotten, but I am never offered any extras at all -- ever. Extras in this case could mean a facial mask, nail cutting, ear cleaning, massage, or sexual services. I would consider myself 'lucky' if offered.
I've still never had the courage to have a cut throat shave, not sure how well a khmer would wield a razor blade, think I'll stick with my perma-stubble.

Is there a secret to getting a haircut without the barber doing a fade that makes me look like a 12 y/o Chinese boy?
