where to stay in phnom penh?

hey everyone..am travelling to phnom penh on mid aug...been thru many blogs n other sites to get info about this place...still confused on which hotel to choose/..prefer stayn in the center close to all attractions ..bars, shoppn etc...any suggetions? ....also read that most of the hotels doesnt allow visitors at night?...is that so strictly followed by the hotels?

Naga world is OK in that price range and they dont care if you bring visitors back. Try to get a room away from the construction, if possible.

There are rooms in Cambodia NOT near construction?

Tonle sap/pickled parrot on 104. $18 per night.
Bar/restaurant downstairs full of expats and Cavern across the road same.
Nothing like chewing the fat with a few expats to get you up to speed fast.
