In praise of Cafe Laurent
Excellent restaurant in Koh Kong, very reasonable prices, great food, good wine, and amazing (relatively new) riverside deck
Great meal for two with wine/mojitos, less than $25
Tagliatelle al limone, wifey had a truly great loklak (steak was divine) home-made ice-cream
And no cambod, I'm not bragging...
Apologies to insecure rich sods for a post by a tefler at a decent restaurant. You'll get over it.

No egos were harmed in the making of the thread.
You're all over the place! !
No reviews from Poipet? I hear that place is lovely.

Haven't been there in a year but, yeah, good place. Good food, nice sunset view over the river. Excellent Koh Kong Shrimp. A/c and wifi in the bar. I've found the serving girls to be a bit shy of barang though...afraid they might speak or something.
Baan Peakmai used to be really good too, though they had closed the last time I was there. Not sure if they move or are just gone.

I'm a fan of the place... tasty food, reasonable prices and relatively few visa-run Pattaya trash.

Yes, lovely place, reasonable prices, fairly good service, they never gave us something we didn't want/hadn't ordered, and were very polite. They used two-way radios to order, and the orders arrived very quickly.
The owner is onto a very good thing, lots of Japanese/Chinese customers, good ambience. I won't always be able to afford it, but I'd still recommend it.

What's going on there that would lure the mighty vladimir?

It's probably the most attractive location in Koh Kong - which isn't saying much really...

I was impressed with the restaurant attached to the left side of the Asia Hotel (across the street from Café Laurent). Very clean and reasonably priced, great service. Across the bridge, both Crab House and Crab Shack have great locations for daytime eating. Also reasonably priced.

I wouldn't eat there if YOU paid.select-visas wrote:I was impressed with the restaurant attached to the left side of the Asia Hotel (across the street from Café Laurent). Very clean and reasonably priced, great service.
Expensive food, not a hope of even being included in the same category as Cafe Laurent.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but in my opinion the only person who would think that place is good value would be the owner.
Seriously.

Just to correct this post:- This hotel is the "Asean: and the restaurant is the 'Baan Peakmai" serving good Thai food at cheap prices.I was impressed with the restaurant attached to the left side of the Asia Hotel (across the street from Café Laurent)
