A friend passed by to my office and gave me his business card. Turns out his company distribute pies. I'll update this shortly.Lucky Lucan wrote:Where can you get a good pie these days? I mean a Steak & Kidney pie, a Guinness & Beef pie, Pork Pie etc. Badabing used to do a good job of it, and Cavern had some very tasty ones too.
Even a tinned pie would be great, do they sell these anywhere?

Wow that looks tasty! Did you buy a pre-made dough or mix and knead it yourself?Chuangt2u wrote:Steak and onion pepper pie.
Sorted.
And to respond to LL, Frizz Restaurant also makes a steak and guinness pie. I had it years ago though so I can't tell if it was worth it. Frizz's website indicates $6 for the dish.

I haven't found a decent (Kiwi/Aussie style) meat pie in Cambodia yet. Pelican pies are terrible, those Magpie pies don't look great but I'll save my judgment until I give them a try (thanks for the link OzirC), will also check out some of the other suggestions. Who ate all the pies?...I did on my last trip to NZ, and dammmn they were good!

Aussie Gourmet Bakery does a range of Australian style pies and sausage rolls. I usually keep a few in the freezer for late night munchies. Shop is on St 240 a fe doors from Monivong. Also his bar Minx (next to Armands on St 108) stocks them. He also does a great Aus style multi grain bread. go after 4.30 for them fresh from the oven.
There is nothing more Australian than spending time in somebody else's country

when i was a kid of 16, i was shovelling the snow at home one nite and a man came over from the house opposite, said where can i find some pie around here? i caught his drift right away, but wasn't able to direct him anywhere useful. it wasn't that kind of neighbourhood, there was plenty of pie --but it wasn't for sale, far as i knew!!

That has to be the longest post you've made in years. Have a good new one anyway!khmerhit wrote:when i was a kid of 16, i was shovelling the snow at home one nite and a man came over from the house opposite, said where can i find some pie around here? i caught his drift right away, but wasn't able to direct him anywhere useful. it wasn't that kind of neighbourhood, there was plenty of pie --but it wasn't for sale, far as i knew!!
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
This place up in Siem Reap appear to know how to make a decent meat pie judging by that puff pastry lid (note to anyone making pies), but not much of a selection and they appear to only be focusing on gourmet style pies.
