written by my great uncle ( my grandfathers brother)
"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST

Re-reading The Plague by Albert Camus.
It's a classic.
It is as reasonable to represent one kind of imprisonment by another, as it is to represent anything that really exists by that which exists not.

Reading a lot.
Here is a great title. "The Case for the Green New Deal"... a very clear study of our contemporary economic and ecological predicament...
Chapter two gives a neat breakdown history of the great tug of war between public governance and the power of private capital...
Some Verso ebooks are free for a little while, just hit the ebook version tab...

If you cannot manage that, well there's always plenty of old movies and netflix on PB...rarbg...etc...

Stasiland = Anna Funder. Early 2000's.
Non fiction about East Berlin, about the only worthy book off the top of my head.
She did later write a fiction book name cannot remember-different subject of course.
