Firstly, whilst I was generalizing about my comment that everyone is for sale I must point out I wasn't limiting the scope to the riverside area or even Cambodia. It's global and its human nature. Yes you can generalize and group people together to make your stats look good.
But once you step outside the 8-12 klm radius of riverside, you are dealing a very different mindset.
Secondly, most of my time in Cambodia was spent in a much more conservative society far away from Phnom Penh. Believe me, the soulless drive to outperform their neighbours doesn't diminish.
