You said that already. Has K440 commissioned a new "best breakfast [by a sponsor]" article?
Anyways, the thing I don't get regarding raving about breakfasts is that it's the quickest, easiest meal to prepare. Looking at that picture, I could make it (and often do, minus the disgusting fried bread which the English call food) for about 2.75$ in well under 20 minutes. I just don't see the point, especially if some people are so picky about how their bacon/eggs are cooked.

Picky? Picky?? MF damn right I'm picky. And I pay hard earned cash. Go spend your money on glue sniffers or something like an APLE GTO or whatever.LexusSchmexus wrote:You said that already. Has K440 commissioned a new "best breakfast [by a sponsor]" article?

Doesn't that kind of speak to the point? If it's so quick and easy to prepare, then why is it so often served as if it has been prepared by a disabled child?LexusSchmexus wrote:Anyways, the thing I don't get regarding raving about breakfasts is that it's the quickest, easiest meal to prepare.
Oh, how you like to trawl out that same comment any time I like a bit of food. Still doing your reviews on stroppymouthredheads.com?LexusSchmexus wrote:You said that already. Has K440 commissioned a new "best breakfast [by a sponsor]" article?

The eggs were poached, not fried. So, for the 3rd and final time, the breakfast at AC is a decent fare.
Try it, or don't... or spend your days maling critiques based on a couple of photos.

Yes, thanks Pedros, glad you enjoyed the breakfast. If others prefer to eat a hot dog or other processed chemical laden sausage from Thailand, and same for the bacon that's their choice. If yet others prefer the cheap sliced bread from the local bakeries with whatever additives the baker chooses to add, that's fine, but we'll serve homemade bread that is made with quality ingredients and served toasted with butter (we never have margarine in our kitchen) or fried with lard (which we make in house). If you prefer canned mushrooms again plenty of other places to go, we'll continue to use fresh, and hey if you want Lipton Tea instead of proper English breakfast tea again that's on offer all over town (actually we have it too for ice tea so request it if you like). We work hard to sauce quality ingredients all over town, and turn them into flavorful dishes our customers enjoy. Our staff occasionally make mistakes and we apologize for that, but we would ask that you notify us at the time this occurs, and give us the opportunity to correct it. Thanks for the feedback.

Jesus, I've hit a nerve. For the record, I never thought it reflected bad on you or your writing, but with the title that was chosen it certainly made KIR look like a doofus.pedros wrote:Oh, how you like to trawl out that same comment any time I like a bit of food.
I'm not sure what you're trying to imply with that comment. That site hasn't worked for me in about a month (though I've only tried with tapatalk). My reviews started off as an attempt to post content to their site in an effort to spite KIR, nothing more. If by that comment you're trying to imply that I'm not a “professional” or something, then that's a bit weird. Who cares? Actually Scobienz asked me to do reviews several months (a year?) back but I told him I couldn't be bothered. I'm sure he's still interested if anyone wants to do some.pedros wrote:Still doing your reviews on stroppymouthredheads.com?
We heard you the first time. I believe you.pedros wrote:The eggs were poached, not fried. So, for the 3rd and final time, the breakfast at AC is a decent fare.
I'm not sure what you're talking about, I wasn't the one who bitched about broken eggs, wrong type of sausage or undercooked/overcooked bacon. I was the one who pointed out to those people that if one isn't happy about it, is picky or has apparently very specific preferences, one might as well cook the same meal at home as it's both cheap and easy to make. Still, I might try it. I used to go to AC quite a bit several years ago but for some reason it fell out of my repertoire of regular haunts and I now just pop in every couple of months.pedros wrote:Try it, or don't... or spend your days maling critiques based on a couple of photos.
Dolce vita breakkie. 3 eggs, tomato, hashbrown, bacon, banger, toast, and good coffee. Red beans offered and declined, as I like my breakfast tasty and not gross.
Whenever I see what you get for $5-8 elsewhere, I go back to basics. Try to beat that for $4.

And no, you didn't criticize the pictures, so carry on.

^I just ate this at La Dolce Vita. "Full Monte Breakfast." $4.00 My views:logos wrote:

Whenever I see what you get for $5-8 elsewhere, I go back to basics. Try to beat that for $4.
1. No baguette option available. Sandwich toast only. Mine had burnt edges. Sonny has baguettes. Never burnt.
2. Tiny dollop of jam only covered half of one piece of toast.
3. Only half of each of the 2 slices of bacon were fully cooked. Most of the fat wasn't completely rendered.
4. I wanted iced coffee with sweet milk, but was told that it would cost 50 cents more. No extra charge at Sonny.
5. Eggs are tiny. At Kandal mkt, 1 small egg is 500 riel. 1 large egg is 550 riel. Sonny has big eggs. (Lol) Also, eggs can only be cooked fried or scrambled. I've had poached and basted at Sonny.
6. Potatoes are yesterday's mashed (same as Sonny's) but they could add some chopped scallions, chives, etc.
7. The "bathroom" is normal, Khmer shit! No soap. No tp. No towels. A million mosquitoes. Not been cleaned in forever. Many better shitters on 172.
8. Service was average. Had to ask twice for condiments.
For $4 its ok. But when I look at the little differences (portions, options, quality, service, bathroom), $5.25 at Sonny Side Up is a much better deal...if you need to eat breakfast on street 172.
Still was probably 1000 times better than that picture of Alley Crap's raw salmonella stew!
^ What the heck are "basted" eggs???
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

To baste an egg you lightly fry it on one side before add a splash or two of water to the pan, then cover the pan so that you 'steam' the top of the egg. It's kind of like a cross between a fried and poached egg.
