Season 1 of Fargo was amazing. Season 2....Meh.

Rick and Morty is probably one of the best things to hit TV in a long time. Season 3= 2017

I can relate to this statement. It is a challenge to find a movie that comes close to the quality series available now, especially when viewed in a 'binge'. Watching a series is like reading a book now, and watching one more episode is like reading just one more chapter. There aren't enough series with a back log of seasons around though (not for my tastes)scobienz wrote:I don't think I will ever watch another movie in my life.
scobienz wrote:I have recently been boring people senseless at how great it was to watch every episode of the Wire back to back. A wonderful experience. I've just finished Breaking Bad. Very good, but not up there alongside The Wire or Sopranos in my view.
Better Call Saul will be next, and I've just downloaded all three series of Deadwood.[/quote
I'm one of the weird ones that really wasn't grabbed by the Wire and I wish I knew why. The Sopranos is the best.
I have nothing to add in terms of good watches - I don't expect people to have the same tastes as me. I did enjoy Six Feet Under and Borgen.

I don't know why, but for mindless fun, I have been watching "American Pickers" from the History channel out of the U.S.
It is about 2 guys who go around basically scrappin and looking for junk via leads or just driving around. They are basically looking for people that are horders/collectors. Interesting stuff. I didn't really know about this or like it before I saw the show. Like I said, mindless entertainment for when you are in between shows or out of stuff to watch.
Modern Family is airing currently, okay show for a sitcom.
"Black Jesus" on Cartoon Network if hilarious. It is from the guy who made Boondocks. Charlie Murphy is in it. Funny as fuck
I like "The Flash" on CW network out of America, but I think you need to be into either comics or the superhero genre as the CW network isn't the most mature content.
South Park's new season has been airing and they are doing something different in that every episode is playing out like a "To Be Continued" and the whole season is one big story. I like it so far.
"Robot Chicken" is fun to watch stoned.
"Homeland" is awesome in it's new season.

The British series Black Mirror is incredible. There are two seasons so far - each comprised of three one hour long episodes. Each episode is self-contained and they are all about various nightmarish/dystopian near-future scenarios. Quite a Nineteen Eighty-Four vibe. Also pretty amazing that one episode features the British PM being coerced into having sex with a pig on live television, given the obvious parallels with David Cameron and his fondness for swine (the episode came out prior to the rumour of Cameron having been fellated by a pig)
Also, for those who like Veep: if you haven't watched the BBC political comedy/drama The Thick of It, then I hiiiiiiighly recommend it. Absolutely fantastic show.
Finally, someone else already mentioned Mr. Robot, but that would be right up there in terms of the best shows this year (for me, at least).

Here is the first episode of Black Mirror on YouTube.
Synopsis: Princess Susannah (Lydia Wilson), a much loved member of the Royal Family, is kidnapped and the ransom demand is an unusual one; Prime Minister Michael Callow (Rory Kinnear) must have sexual intercourse with a pig on live national television. As the time starts to run out and public support rapidly disappears, Callow finds he may have no choice but to go through with the obscene act.

Just downloading first episodes of 'Dickensian' and 'Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands'. Anyone seen them?
edit: downloaded and skimmed - saving for new year.
On first glance Beowulf looks like it's cashing in on Vikings/Game of Thrones.
Dickensian looks brilliant. It's a fresh story that's a sort of mash-up of Dickensian characters with their pre- and post-Dickens' novels stories. There's a young Miss Haversham, Fagin, Bill Sikes and Nancy in their early days, Jacob Marley in the flesh and the Bumbles in their later years.
Over the last couple of years Penny Dreadful did a decent effort of mixing in various Victorian gothic sorts in an original story, and I suppose comicbook superheroes have been up to the same tricks. Just waiting for the tardis to materialise on the USS Enterprise now.
