Each series is independent of the others, so hopefully it doesn't take a few episodes each time!violet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 12:11 amI keep trying to watch it. I’ll have another go at some point (it took me 5 or 7 goes to get into Breaking Bad - just had to get through the first few episodes).IgnJR wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 8:29 pmMartin Freeman was also excellent in the first series of Fargo, something that I hesitated to watch because I loved the film, and because I wasn't sure he'd pull the character off. The first three Fargo series are all very good btw, and even the fourth isn't bad.

Yeah, I'd say Fargo the series is on a par with the movie, especially the first series with Billy Bob Thornton.IgnJR wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 8:29 pmMartin Freeman was also excellent in the first series of Fargo, something that I hesitated to watch because I loved the film, and because I wasn't sure he'd pull the character off. Regarding different shit, i'd like to watch the filims (Irish and scouse for films), Paris Texas and Punch Drunk Love at some point, but Netflix and Prime don't seem to have them, or The Wire series.

Very varied body of work… here he is rapping with Ali G.violet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 12:10 amHis acting in The Responder was excellent in my view.guest9 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 7:12 pmHe played Watson to Cumberpatch's Holmes.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 6:32 pmYeah, Martin Freeman is a very capable actor. He’s done quite a few different things - I think he was also Holmes in one of the Sherlock series (maybe the one with Benedict Cumberbatch).
The Responder was excellent - very gritty and seemed real.
Started in the British The Office, of course, along with a sketch in Love, Actually as a bored porn actor.
As smelly pants says, the show was gritty. Martin was believable

I only realised I knew him from The Office once it was mentioned here. He looked and sounded so different in The Responder. I’m glad I didn’t realise it was him before watching it. While the name seemed familiar, when I searched for him afterwards - it just didn’t register who he was.
I watched an interview where the writer of the Responder said he had Martin in mind when he was writing after seeing him in Fargo. He had no idea if he’d manage to get Martin. Martin and the director regularly kept in touch and (magically) it all worked out. Series 2 is coming soon.
Martin’s accent ability is very good. I am now a big fan. His range is amazing. There are some who say comedians can make the best serious actors.
Oh and his co-star was good too.
Spitthedog - I like Punch Drunk Love.

Ok, I'll bite
Here is a couple of little known movies that were excellent
1. The Secret in Their Eyes (Spanish: El secreto de sus ojos
Watch the original Argentinian movie, not thé Hollywood remake
2. The day of the beast
A spanish horror comedy
3. The Spanish original of vanilla sky , I forgot its title. So much better than the us version with Tom cruise
4. The beast of war, about a Russian tank in Afghanistan, probably the best known of those four movies

The Reckoning- Steve Coogan plays an uncanny 'now then, now then' Sir Jimmy Savile. Compulsive, but disturbing viewing.
Bodies- halfway through, pretty good, got Stephen Graham in it, like every decent British drama lately.

Licorice Pizza (2021) is partially a coming of age movie set in 1973. The Licorice Pizza record store appeared in another coming of age movie, Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982).
Sean Penn is in both movies
*******************
Bottle Rocket (1996) is an offbeat crime comedy with Luke and Owen Wilson (all four Wilson brothers appear in the movie).
*************************
Safe Men (1998) is also an offbeat crime comedy with Sam Rockwell and Steve Zahn.
*****************************
Ready Player One (2018) takes place in the future partially inside a video game that people all over the world "live" in.
*************************
Meru (2015) is a documentary about a quest to climb Meru. But it is also about the trust and connection between the three climbers.
*************************************************
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a comedy which centers on the antics of five immature selfish bar owners. It may be the longest running non-animated comedy.

Thought The Homesman with Tommy Lee Jones was worth watching, and I couldn't care less if Logos thinks otherwise...

Anybody watched the Fall of the House of Usher yet?
I've just completed watching episode 3
As cynical, incestuous and sociopathic as GOT.
